It does not work you need full obd2 these vehicle are obd2a the ecu does not send the correct signals through to the 3 pin out to 5 pin etc

Ecu is basically obd2 but wiring is obd1 hence obd2a half way in why if you want to fit an obd1 ecu it fits by just shaving the plug,

Only way around it all is if you are using a p28 or p30 ecu for remap purposes etc

There is a 5 pin data port you have to remove the solder and wire to an ostrich unit or equivalent then from the ostrich to laptop thats as good as it gets.

Or buy a full obd2 car that has 5 pin plug ready.

They sell these conversion leads as they work in the usa models obd2a but not europe.

Really appreciate your comments etc, but get this, ive actually located a full size obd2b connector on the mb2 and torque worked instantly :/

I was mistaking the abs connector {next to the 2 pin service connector } for the diag connector. I must have a really late model 1.4i mb2 for it to work?

My car sure is a strange one, I cant find a rear wheel bearing anywhere and neither can the motorfactors, none fit so far.

Someone on here has this working also i can't remember who. Someone had a blue tooth adapter sticking out side of center console. I questioned it and they got an obd2 port there. @Chandler maybe? Oh i Can't remember

Yeah thats where my connector is.

Took out the ecu today, according to pgmfi its actually running as an obd1 ecu { the code on the ecu is pj1 } and is mapable. However I have now taken the actual ecu apart and it doesnt have any options to socket it so must be a different / later version of the p1j found below.

See here :

http://wikitest.pgmfi.org/twiki/bin/view.pl/Library/P1J

ps : It has a obd2A harness to the ecu.
