Mb2 bogging down, now fixed!

Question

I am still chasing the problem that's making my mb2 hesitate and bog down at 4000 to 6500rpm, but when it passes 6500rpm it gives a last little push to the red line, the car is fine when I'm driving at low speeds but I still have to feather the accelerator peddle to stop it bogging down. Today I took the standard air filter off and put a cone one on. and it seemed to run slightly better but still bogging down, and I'm still getting p0171 system too lean. I really need this sorting out asap

I have seen someone cut a hole in the seat base to get at it, wouldn't recomend that though!

that idea did come into my head, but I don't think using an angle grinder is a good idea lol

Also previous owner informed me that EML light fist came on after he had a decated streight through exhaust fitted, I've returned the exhaust system back to standard apart from the CAT, I wonder if the de-cat that's making this issue

Right.. so getting all the info together now. The whole purpose of the secondary o2 sensor is to ensure that the cat is working.

so decating when you have a secondary o2 is gonna throw a code. That's probably your code.

I'm not familiar with this system on a Honda so I don't know if you would experience your hesitation problem due to this as the ecu could be compensating trying to correct o2 reading.

I know on a subaru it just throws a code but still performs as it should.

Personally at this stage I would either refit a cat. And see if this helps or at least. Try and get a spacer for your lambda. These can sometimes help eliminate the eml.

thanks for the input mate aprechiate it, I've never experienced this issue with a honda as I always decat them but this is the first one I've had with 2 O2 sensors, I'm going to buy a cat and hopefully it sorts this problem, because the second O2 sensor it on the decat pipe with out a spacer so it's probably this that's the problem, I'll buy a cat and see what happens.

Just adding my 0.02, you can buy special lambda bung which reduces the amount of exhaust flow the sensor is exposed to.

This reduces the readings and can flick the EML off

Just thought I'd update this post as I have on my project thread, I found out the problem after changing a lot of parts I didn't need to, I finally found out that the inside of my fuel tank basically rusted inside, and it was contaminated with water aswell. This is what made my engine run lean! The problem is now fixed after I replaced the tank and fuel pump and flushed the lines out
