Hi all

I know I've never been what you'd call an active poster, but I've always had some great support & advice offered in years gone by, it would seem the forum has gone silent though, I've posted up a couple of requests in the SOS section which have been up for some time with no replies, I must admit I have asked more questions than I have been able to answer as I'm not the most mechanically gifted individual.

Each time I've been on in the last week I've noted I am the only member online, just guest users, has everyone abandoned the forum in favor of the dreaded social media? heck I'm on facebook myself in a few civic groups, but the platform is fairly useless when it comes to information & guides as well as the real community atmosphere you get on the forum(s), I've seen it with other interest forums I use in hobbies, a massive decline in traffic & active members.

I really hope we don't forget these forums are the backbone of our hobbies, social media is not the be all & end all, all the instant gratification is short lived.

I hope we can see this place more active again going forward & if anyone has some advice on my SOS threads I'd surely appreciate any help anyone could offer.

	Hi everyone,

My name's Nishan, since ive been reading through some of the threads I figured id make an introductory post 🙂

Ive got an manual MC1 aerodeck with a D16W4 on 118k that I picked up as an MOT failure about a month ago for £800, its got an enormous stack of history and im the 3rd owner

Been fixing her up slowly over the last month, getting the bits done for a fresh MOT, rear passenger caliper was seized when I bought it and was pretty much the first thing I did along with discs and pads both sides on the rear.

Next issue to sort was the horn not working which I stupidly assumed was the clockspring since I had the exact same issue on my first car which was a D14 mb6 and I know its a common issue on old civics. Replaced it and ended up buying a used horn since my multimeter packed up so I just guessed it had to be one of the two. Replaced both the sidelight bulbs since they had burnt out and lastly i had an exhaust leak from the mid section and backbox, since someone had previously taken a few speed bumps pretty enthusiastically and put a nice collection of holes on the bottom managed to score the backbox and mid section for £100 on ebay brand new and almost finished fitting it last weekend, just need to drill out the old bolts to the cat that are pretty in there and that should pass me the MOT fingers crossed 😀.

Im thinking of doing some coolant bypass bits as I've heard its a good modification on the D series engines.

If anyone knows a thread that explains how best to go about it or has done it themselves please let me know, would be much appreciated

Im aiming to put it on the road as my daily as I'm currently dailying a manual honda accord CM2 2.2 diesel which has a nasty bit of timing chain rattle, so im gonna switch them around and daily the civic while I replace the timing chain along with any other bits that need doing.

Any info in regards to preventative maintenance on the aerodeck would be greatly appreciated as im not super well versed in the common issues these suffer from.

	Cheers guys 😁

	Hello to everyone.

my name is George and I come from Greece. Happy to be in here, looking forward to find some useful infos. I hope forum is still alive I can understand that M's are very old and rare nowadays. Special thanks to Dave for approving my registration!

After 20 years of owning an 99 EK Civic 1.6 Vti, I had an accident, an unlucky event I would say and decided to buy something different. So I bought a CIvic MA9 1.5. I always said that these Civics are unique and different from others! So I'm an old newbie we can say! My new Civic is not in good condition, until now many problems in the interior, some on the engine bay and on the chassis...but I will try to do my best to maintain the car.

	Here are some photos

Anything I should know? Can I simply remove em or should I keep em on? Thanks in advance!

It has a W prefix plate, but according to the MOT check site was registered 26th January 2001.

The listing doesn't mention it being a personal plate. As far as I can tell, it should be on an X prefix plate if it was first registered on that date.

Was reading my Classic Car Weekly and one of the readers had put their car forward for the "value my car" section where they get an idea what their car is worth according to the experts. There was a 98 Rover sterling with around 60K on the clock and most of its history. They recon the value is around 3.5 to 4K and advised to get an agreed value policy on it.

Same year (almost) as DD and know quite a few of our Civic M's are either 1999 or older so got me wondering if anyone here has ventured into the agreed value route yet with their Civic.

I'm thinking of asking them for a value on DD just out of curiosity, as know the tossers at WeBuyAnyCar dot con (where most insurance companies base their values on now) value her at around £250! Which would maybe buy the alloys and bugger all else! Just with them getting pretty rare now, thinking surely the values (that they are actually worth) have gone up now? Don't want to get caught out if the worst happens so deffo thinking about the agreed value policy.

Anyone got one on theirs and if so what value did you get agreed?

I guess just abit of a safety announcement? I've currently got a spare seat and noticed the below crack on its drivers seat base! (right next to the mounting bolt hole)

Obviously I don't know if the seats were abused previously but thought i'd flag it up incase it was age/fatigue related:

So a few months back, my brother in law had a problem in his civic with an r18 engine where one of the injectors failed.

My mate who works on our cars and used to work in the workshop at Honda is still in touch with guys he used to work with said they'd started seeing loads of injectors going, and thought it was because of e10.

Fast forward to yesterday, and Karen's accord started sounding rough (she said it sounded like a scooby) and had an engine warning light on. Turns out it was a misfire on one of the cylinders.. Everything else checked out okay, so have ordered a new injector for it - my mate said when he was speaking to the parts guy at the dealer, apparently they'd ordered 18 injectors in a single week, which is totally unheard of.

Needless to say, Karen's also now not touching e10 anymore. Normally bullet proof k24 felled by some rubbish fuel (or at least so it seems).

Nuts when you think my b18 has been rocking on for over 20 years and well over 200k and never had an issue with an injector. Don't even remember anyone on here having issues.

I had a look at MBs on Auto Trader earlier today as I often do.

There are currently only three advertised on there for sale in the entire UK. That was using the search criteria "Honda Civic, Years 1995 to 2000".

With how many were around a few years ago, this suggests they are rapidly disappearing. I don't think I see as many on the road around London now as I did even 2 or 3 years ago.

Hello there, just picked up an mb2 last week! I currently own an fn2 type r but needed something a little more sensible for family outings. I've fell in love with how the old girl looks and although a few things need doing (body wise) everything is great! I'm hoping to throw on the vti kit at some point! I've attached an image of how she looks right now, previous owner added a few personal choices to the car.

Currently I have the original tape player installed but I'd much rather use a cd player, does anyone know what type I would need? how difficult is removing the tape player and installing a cd player on the mb? I'm used to driving much younger cars so I don't want to mess anything up in the mb!

Knowing the vti and civic sport models are so much more desirable, how does the mb2 stand? just a base spec civic of the era or anything special about the mb2? I really have no idea on this generation civic lol

thank you for reading, look forward to meeting fellow mb folk!
