Well i went to get the engine up on the stand as the rain stoped for a while. anyway so i split off the gearbox then took off the clutch which i was happy to find was an exedy stage 1 with half its life left woohoo but as i got to the fly its in a bad way as in very scored so will need a skim but at the moment i cant get it off as i dont have the right socket for the torque bolts or long enough ones to mount it properly so the getting it on the stand will have to wait till tomozz lol always the way2 points

I love classic cars, was my passion before I got into Hondas. Nice project you got there mate. I was into restoring old 70's fords, but what I would love is a Datsun 240Z or 260Z.2 points

Ha ha both of the Hondas are thirsty I can try any car people I loved working on this deck especially with the owner2 points

Yeah should be simple enough, my bonnet was absolutely peppered, I'm just hoping when I machine it (this week hopefully) it doesn't lift it out. Thing is with the right products you can do a decent job much quicker, I spray the wheels with Bilberry and get my power washer setup while that goes off, then use the wheel and detail brushes on them, rinse and then snow foam the car, while that dwells I fill up my buckets then rinse, wash, rinse again and dry with a large towel, QD and job done.1 point

Cheers mate. Was speaking to Alex about the cosmetic side (obviously lol) and think this could now become an obsession1 point

Sounds like a plan, this is the one my mate has, it's expensive though £120 (and I'm pretty sure that doesn't include a compressor) but very good, you can rotate the barrel so you can use the little cup on top for small jobs or you can attach a pot of paint to it.1 point

took all day but we (well he did i got busy in my reptile room and came out to look, offer advice and take pics lol) got there - i guess its handy when you make your own vivariums for reptiles, i have stack of wood that was strong enough and decent enough to use as a floor, most of it was treated with stuff for humidity within the vivs as well so hopefully its a win win with his damp boot i was mesmerized by it! lol1 point

Did you find out if that is a private plate already or a '97 car. If you're breaking and scrapping, then speak to DVLA about holding the plate on retention and then transfer.1 point

Can i just clear up some information here. Rear toe in / ^ \ increase stability in a straight line and under braking. Rear toe out \ ^ / decreases stability in a straight line and under braking but helps to arc the rear around the corner. OEM spec rear toe setting will be for saftey which is toe in. Setting the toe to 0 or toe out will handle better but be more twitchy. OEM spec camber settings typically have more camber at the back than the front, this is to induce understeer, as the front tyres will let go first. OP if you have -2 neg deg in the front you want the rear to have at least -2 neg deg or more at the back. Going past -4 neg deg actually starts to reduce rear grip again becuase you cant corner hard enough to use the contact patch fully. (depending on your suspension setup) Which if you want to reduce understeer, this is advantagous. check out the Touring cars stance to see this technique in action. Hope this helps1 point

Ok so update!! The infamous Mr Chandler came over today. And all I can say is wow!!! I started and hour or so before he arrived and him and I spent 7 hours on her today. Wash, Clay (several times it was that bad, bilt hamber) machine polish with multiple going overs, more claying and finally a wax. I'll let the pics talk ..... All set up, although it had to come down as nearly blew away ... Not many WIP pics as we were both busy most of the time .. But the man hard at work. Some reflection shots. And some of then together ... These were before polishing. Bit I like the shots. Photos do not do it justice. It's amazing. The finish is absolutely incredible to what it was. It has brought out the purple flakes so much. In the sunlight it absolutely comes to life. I can't express the gratitude for Alex coming over and doing the machining. Also helping to clay as I was behind on time! And the wax! Oh dear god, the waxes are amazing. We used a combination, I'll let Alex let you know what they were but they all smelt brilliant and the finish is fucking stunning. And it helps that he's a top bloke and we had a great day! Slightly jealous of your cleaning gear though, there is massive £££££ invested there and it shows. Top man, cheers mate.1 point

This is something I've wanted to do for ages. I haven't tried to paint anything in years, apart from walls anyway, and I'm well chuffed with how this has turned out. Cover as it came Stripped Primed Painted and baked Lettering rubbed back Old cover New one, also painted the plug cover in pirates. Also finally managed to try out my new snow foam lance today.1 point
