  1. This is the last shot I took before I had to go to the airport that morning. Luckily we found a heated garage for the car while I'm gone. So no worrying about rodents. weasels, moisture, or rust while I'm gone.

At this point it's just going to sit and get the TUV (similar to your MOT) done while I'm here in the states. I'm just going to keep saving money for the importation taxes and fees, and small repairs I want to work on when I get back next year.

  2. Soooo funny story.
That VT-i that was all rusted out was bought by a German guy that ended up buying parts from. What are the odds of that? I ended up linking up with him before I left to get some extra OEM parts and when I get back over there in Spring, I’m getting the rest of the interior from him. Will be doing the full power window conversion, dash, and interior swap.

Cool - looks nice and clean bud. Like that you've got some time to collect parts, and made a nice start to the part collection with those rare bits applause.gif1

Yeah, it's a timely process to hunt down the parts. but when you find them you get super happy. I like the rare bits here and there, but I'm also looking for OEM parts like the trims, seals, and moldings. You won't get those here in America, so I need to get extra's of that.

Nice! Those big fogs still in oem wrapping - cant be many of those about in that condition!

Interesting about the 25yr rule in the US, wonder if many other of this shape civics find their way over there.

Thanks. I got lucky finding the parts online, and the sellers were happy someone finally bought the parts without and crazy hassles to the price.

Alot of my friends say it looks like a rejected Accord Wagon, but I don't think it does.

  5. Not really an SOS, but I am curious.

Where can I find the Build Stamp, Factory Stamp, or Production Date Stamp on the Aerodeck chassis?

I know that on my 2 98 Civics (Sedan and Hatchback) I can find them on the left and right side shock towers, but I didn't see them on the same spots for the Aerodeck.

Any help or pictures of the location would be appreciated.

  6. So even before I got the car I was primarily hunting down parts for it. Those familiar with the chassis know that MB/MC parts are harder to find than most EK chassis parts. But with a little luck and help from my German connections, I was able to start sourcing parts.

Some of the more rare stuff came from the VTi-S version of the Aerodeck. Basically it’s stacking time

Aerodeck regular fogs. These are the EDM version made by Carello. The housings are a little rough, thats why I have 2 sets to work with. I may have to end getting some EG Civic or Prelude housings in the future.

Picked up some VT-i clusters. One is a UKDM (mph) and the other is the EDM (km/h). I like to have options. :loveheart:

  7. The seller was cool and we are still in contact talking about Honda stuff. After a smooth transaction it was time to fill the car up and head all the way back to the house.

Took us forever to get back because of heavy stau’s (traffic jams) on the autobahns and back road detours. But we made it.

  8. Greetings everyone. It's been a long time since I've posted anything on here civic5 related. Been a member on here since 2013 when I got my last Aerodeck before a tour in Afghanistan. I used to have that weird one off 2.0 Turbo Diesel Aerodeck back in the day. It was fun but dealing with Rover parts wasn't at all.

Ever since I came back to America I the itch for another Aerodeck. There are plenty out there, but I wanted one in the Orleans Blue Pearl color, specifically the 1.8 VT-i version of the Aerodeck. I looked and looked and finally found one, but with one catch: the floorboards were totally rust-rotted out in multiple places.

So, after I gave up on that idea, this 98 MB3 Aerodeck popped up. With the help of my wife we set up a meeting with the seller to seal the deal.

Picked it up on my last trip to Germany and now it’s parked at the in-laws waiting for the 25-year rule to ship it to the States. I got some nice plans for this car when it gets stateside. I hope the importing process isn’t a pain in the butt though.

Crikey! Long time bud - didn't you used to have the diesel aerodeck? How's it going? What happened to the mc3?

You can download the workshop manual from the download section on here - that should sort you out - if not, I've got a Haynes manual so can check if you need it.

    It's a weird one - I guess you've checked the connections etc?

    Hey there. What's up?

Yeah been a long time since I've been on here. Once I got my orders to leave Germany I sold the silver Aerodeck to another Soldier. Been in America since May 2016. I came up on a sweet deal for Orleans Blue Pearl Aerodeck so i had my wife help me secure it.

On a positive note, I did download the service manual after looking around for it. And in typical car guy fashion I started to think of all the hard stuff wrong with the car and not the easy things.

Turns out it was just the back-up lights fuse that was causing the issues. The gauges share a circuit with the back-up lights. I was searching for the turn signal fuse, relay, accessory fuse, etc. before I just looked at the manual and the dang fuse box. I lucked out because I was able to fix it before I have to leave tomorrow morning.

  10. Wanted to see if anyone out there has some insight to my dead gauge cluster.

I have a 98 MB9 1.5 VTEC-E Aerodeck that I just picked up last weekend. Everything was running fine with no issues. I recently swapped in a 98 VTi cluster to add some small touches to the interior. Swapped out a few dead mini bulbs here and there, and it was good to go. Took the car out for a drive and all the lights, needles, and functions were on point.

This past evening I was working on the coil over suspension because it has to go to TUV December and because the the guy who had it before had it slammed and it was cringe-worthy driving it back over 500km to the in-laws house. So After raising and lowering the car to get the height I wanted I was finally done and I wanted to take the car out for a spin to heat and set the springs.

When I got into the car I noticed my accessory lights didn't come on, nor did my ebrake, etc. When I started the car up and drove to make a turn my turn signals weren't working, but my 4 way flashers were. Then I say that my temp gauge, gas gauge, RPM and KPH needles were moving either.

Since I don't have a manual I am a little stumped, and by the time one comes in I have to fly back to America.

Anybody have any insight on what to check and where? Since it's late I'll check the fuses again in the morning.

    Thanks.

  11. been a while since I have been on here. got back from training and haven't had too much time for the Aerodeck. but I am sad to say that I will be selling it soon. not that its not a good car, its just that I have been replacing and fixing too much on it. I have to replace 2 rear steel brake lines this weekend and I just replaced another turbo intercooler bottom hose and the alternator. 15yrs of the elements and I guess the previous owners neglect are catching up.

unfortunately I don't have enough posts to place the few goodies I have for sale up, so I wonder if a admin will allow me to post a link from another page cause I took the parts off aready. cry.gif1

  12. ask for price then say, how much is it trade, and if they say what it is they have to do it for that price ;)

and that's what I told him. just because you messed up and didn't read the updated parts list is not my problem. you told me one price and that's what I am paying.

Yeah that is bad for a tech lol

as for the tech my wife and I had the feeling he was trying to up sale a whole new system. that was until my wife broke it down to him that I can just fix this problem all by myself. she even teased me by saying " See, I told you these knuckle heads weren't gonna solve the problem"

  13. Can't expect to go to Honda for cheapness lol

yeah I know that. I used to work for Honda in America in the shop and the service department. but I also expect the Head Technician to know that the Red programming key wont start the car. that right there is what really ticks me off. that and they tried to charge me 44 euros per key, instead of the original 32 euros.

  14. yeah, Honda is a damn rip off. blowupsmiley.gif

took my car and Red key there to have them fix it. so I dropped it off last week on a Thursday cause the guy said they only needed a few hours to reprogram the new keys. well Thursday, Friday, and Saturday pass with no phone call from Honda. so I call them.

they tell me that they cannot reprogram my new keys cause my Red program key doesn't work and doesn't start the car. so of course naturally I am like WTF!!!!!! and then proceed to explain to the service woman and head Honda technician that the red key doesn't start the car, its just for learning new keys to the old system. applause.gif1  conversation went on for like 15mins. they also added that their Honda computer system couldn't read my car when plugged in and that it would have to stay there till basically next year after new years day. ummmmm.......nope.

once I got to the dealership they asked me how did I get the car there if I only had the red key. my wife had to calm me down and explain to them in German that I am no rookie when it comes to Honda and that I replaced the key and ignition cylinder and drove it there. the head tech had this puzzled look on his face. so 5 mins into the conversation the guy is basically saying it cant be fixed and suggests that its not the original red key, but it unlocks all the doors and turns the ignition rlol.gif1

so I tell them just give me the new keys and I will solve the problem myself. and once again the tech had this smirk on his face. so I go to pay for the keys and they want to charge me 149 Euros for the keys and not programming them. I looked at the woman like aggressive.gif1 and hell no I am not paying for that. come to find out they even charged me the wrong amount for 2 keys as well.

needless to say I am about to google how to reprogram using the red key. and I wont be going back for parts unless I have to.
