  1. Hi guys, so my Mb2 is going to be turning 20 very soon this year So one of the jobs I’m wanting to do is replacing all major bushings etc. I’ve just never done this before and have no idea what bushes are on the car, front suspension and back. Also where can I get all the right parts and how much is it going to cost approximately? Trailing arm bushes badly need doing, also sure I’ve heard the front anti roll bar knocking, rear LCA bushes could do with replacing as well. Any words of wisdom greatly appreciated!
  2. i think its time to start my project thread i brought my civic MA8 1.4is in february its my first car! I chose the 1.4 because of the low insurance group as I'm 21 (but ended up being over 3K!!) I have always loved these civics, I was looking for one for a while in a good colour, but I found this one in a rare colour (Phantom Grey) and i picked it up for a price I couldn't refuse with a bit of tax and mot the car is mechanically sound but the previous owner didn't look after the body work to well but the old civic is in good hands now and will be forever as I'm never geting rid of her, I am going to be doing a fair bit of work on her from the ground up with an engine conversion coming at some point.. I've settled for a (D16w4 it's the same as the Y8 and Y2) but the engine is now fitted, I will turbo it soon This is how the car looked when i brought it
  3. What pressies did your modern classic get for Christmas? Let's see them here! Mindy my MK1 MX5 got nice stainless steel will covers courtesy of my wife Gayle. Carly Cooper (my gen 2 MINI) got two new rear brake calipers, pads and sensors (cos the brakes went on Christmas Eve!) Will add a pic of those later. DD my Honda Civic Aerodeck got a promise from me to renew her front caliper and get her mot, plus possibly some paintwork in the spring/summer.
  4. Q= What Civic M' have I got? A= https://civic5.com/forum/main-pages/civic-5-door-and-aerodeck-chassis-codes/ Q= My cars heater only works on certain speeds, or not at all? A= The heater resistor pack has blown. See here for how to replace it >>> Click here Q= What is the wheel offset of the MB6 and other M's? A= http://www.civic5.com/wheel-info.php Q= Does a decat make any difference and where can I get one? A= Yes, a decat will make slight a difference in power. Available from various places such as Ebay Q= What tyre should I get for my M? A= All depends on the model/wheel size you have, and if it's lowered. 14" wheels 185x60 14 15" wheels 195x55 15 16" wheels 195x50 16 17" wheels 195x40 17 Q= I have an MA8/MA9 civic (pre-facelift models) Are the MB body panels the same? A= No. The MA civic 5 doors have the grill built into the front bumper. So body parts that are different are as follows Front bumper Headlights Bonnet Front wings Rear bumper Rear lights Q= What oil should I use in my civic? A= Honda recommend Castrol 10w40, however any make will be fine. You can also use 5w40 if you want to, but its a bit thinner. Q= How much oil does my engine take? A= Single cam engines take approx 3.2 - 3.4 litres, twin cam engines take 3.7 - 4.0 when you change the oil filter at the same time. Q= How often should I service my 'M'? A= Cars registered before July 1998, need a service every 6 months/6000 miles. Cars registered after July 1998 need a service every 1 year/9000 miles. (service schedules to follow.. ) Q= I am buying an m civic, what should i look out for? 9. Hi eveyone thought it was about time I uploaded some pics of what I'm doing/done to my Ma. I going for a retro racer look so some things might be trial and error. What I've done so far: stripped most of the interior out stripped most the dash and behind the dash. sanded down and strip parts for painting.
  10. As above, anybody doing anything exciting this year? Now the year long January is out of the way, how do you think 2018 is stacking up so far and what have you all got planned for the months ahead? I've just booked myself a track day at Spa in October, I'll do a few shows and hopefully treat the cars to some parts too! My plan is to be broke....a lot
  11. Hiya team, I've just inherited a lovely little MA9 1.5 here, and it still has the original speakers and pioneer head unit in it. Other half is keen on good tunes, and so I thought I had better do some upgrading. Looking around on various topics I see that Astra H type adaptor rings can be used to adapt the OEM 6in speakers to take some 6.5 ones. 2 questions: 1) Are these the adapters in question: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Astra-H-Corsa-D-Speaker-Adaptor-Rings-Front-Doors-6-5-165mm-SAK-1400-/370910867648 2) Has any body seen a how to guide to do this? Looking at the pictures of them I would imagine you'd need to flip them over to accommodate the large speaker facing into the cabin? All help much appreciated, Magnus
