  1. Hi everyone, long time visitor first time poster , I have a 1997 MB2 base model with a d14a8 in. Over the past few month i have been preparing the car as a track car. I have done a reasonable amount of work onto the d14 (Cambelt, aux belts, valve lash, oil change, z6 intake mani, cold air intake, new fuel filter etc) however, recently it has felt very down on power and the car is vibrating a lot. There is no audible knock or rattle from the engine however when doing a routine check i discovered metal filings on the dipstick. Rather than plowing more money into a d14, which other D series would be a straight swap? I know its not as simple as that but I'm looking to do this swap over a weekend with a few a mates. I know the mechanical aspect of doing a swap very well however I am completely clueless with what to do with the wiring. Can anyone give me some ideas?
  2. Don't know what's happening to me but I'm quickly changing teams and have a new love for Toyota. Hilux surf joined the family last year and now have recently got an Alphard as a daily. I absolutely love it. However seems to have mixed opinions amongst my friends, obviously some of them don't get the JDM life. Gonna be a small project this one. Fixing niggles. And some maintenance. Few upgrades and some nice wheels at some point soon. Start with some pics of the beast.
  3. my d14z4 intake manifold broke so i would like to put another one that wasn't plastic. what other intake manifold are compatible?
  4. Hey lads, Have previously put a build thread on civiclife forum but thought I'd wack one up here too for different opinions etc. Currently I have re-sprayed the grill and re-badged boot... Ive cleaned up bay, powder coated rocker cover and fitted short ram induction kit (soon to be cold air induction kit)... Removed headlight washer jets... New head unit, fusion sub and fli door speakers... Next I plan to fill jet holes in front bumper and re-spray it, along with skirts and rear bumper as they have a few dings etc. Purchased the relevant stuff for this from halfords, had a question though... If i get paint colour using cars ext. paint code... Once lacquered will it have the desired effect or will it look out of place.... The silver has a metallic shine to it but not sure if my sprayed bumpers will come out the same as not done this before? Any tips welcome please!! Here's a couple pics anyway...

    MA9

Hi folks, i have MA9 (d15z3 1.5 vtec-e 95') i am looking to sawp it with transmission to something with more power, what would be the easy swap with litle work
  6. Just looking for what I need to do an Integra brake upgrade on my VTi. I want to keep the standard wheels and PCD. Need to know disc size and any other information that I may need. Cheers.
  7. Well, after introducing the MB3, now time for the fun car. On december 2019 I was looking for some spare parts for a friend and saw this car adverted, really cheap (Arround 1/3 of the normal price in my country). I called the owner and after an hour explaining me a lot of details, I called a friend, we made 500 Km, and bought it in the same day. It was the 2nd owner, car was bought new by a friend of this and gifted to him because it was going to be scraped. The second owner used the car 3-4 years to drive to his orchard (he made less than 1500 Km in this time, but changed timing belt, water pump...). He told me car had only one issue, the auto trans when you flat the accelerator, revs really high. I was expecting an normal auto and find out it was a CVT and he didnt knew how this work. 10 minutes after buying the car, I washed it (it was scary how dirty was), made the first pic and drive it back home with no issues. The car was really dirty. This guy was a huge smoker and never emptied the ashtray. He also allowed his dog sleep inside and had a lot of mud due to all the trips to the orchard. Also, the trunk was like a swiming pool. I spent a week to dry, clean up and remove the cigarrette smell. Here are some pics of how I spent my christmas holiday (apart from cleaning, I tinted the floor mat and reupholstered the roof). The first mods were a genuine EK9 rear lip, first molding front lip and DC2 rear seats. Next was a brake upgrade to 282mm disks and DC2 calipers. At the same time, I modified the headlights: I found a guy selling a seeker V2, Tein coilovers and DC2 recaros and the same week I bought in UK the wheels I wanted and were imposible to find in Spain: And a friend gifted me a good looking steering wheel: We got confinated for 2 months home in my country, so I made some upgrades. First one was rear brake conversion, from drums to 260mm using MB fastback arms with EP2 calipers.
  8. hello guys, this is my first post here so i might say some silly things. i have an '98 mb3 which i love. but i think the body is to soft and has to much roll. i went online and found a rear anti roll bar kit (https://www.all4honda.com/nl/m2-sport-sway-bar-kit-19mm-achterzijde-civic-del-sol-integra). i dont want to go for lowering springs right now because i dont have the budget for a good set. anyways my question is, is this something to buy and can I instal it right away without drilling any new holes? any other tips on installment would be greatly appreciated. Much thanks and greatings from the netherlands
  9. Hi there, me again! I've come to sip from the fountain of knowledge as usual. So as you, I was thinking about ways to make my car better, and since my MB2 has been K-Swapped I was thinking it maybe a good idea to do more improvements to the braking. So I already got EBC discs and yellowstuff pads on the front and braided lines on both the front and rear, but now I'm thinking it maybe a good idea to do a disc conversion for the rear and then get EBC discs and yellowstuff pads for those too. I had a look around the forum about this sort of thing and I looked at the list of interchangeable parts, but from my understanding going from drums to discs requires a full hub conversion. So if anyone is experienced in this field I would like to find out what all of my options are; so from which cars can I swap rear discs into mine from? I am aware that MB's that have discs on both front and rear ususally come in the configuration of 262/260 front/rear or 262/239. I would assume 260mm discs are superior to 239mm, but I am staying away from rear discs from the MB6 and MC2 VTI's because I want to keep a 4x100 wheel pattern (unless it's easy to change). Another thing is that my MB2 does not have ABS, I'm not sure if this plays a part with seeing what options I have. So overall I just want to hear what others have to say; what you guys would recommend, which breaking cars I should keep a look out for, and what would give me the best stopping power without changing other things on my car such as the wheels. Cheers guys :)
  10. Hi there, So I've returned again to pick fruit from my favourite tree of wisdom. So good news, my MB2 build is nearing to the "end" of my MB2 build, of which I'll be making a lovely post about with lots of pictures once it's done. So recently I got the Hardrace front traction brace, Hardrace rear LCA's, 18mm rear anti-roll bar for 400/45/MG ZS. So I want to get new front LCA's as well and I asked the guys at Dynodaze about fitment and they told me that rear LCA's for MB follows EK (not EG) fitment but they didn't mention what would fit the front, only saying that they'd recommend getting ones off an MB6. So I just want to see if anyone has AM front LCA's then what fits MB's? Also bonus question, in case I ever decide to go for a beefier rear anti roll bar, what fitment works with the MB2? Thank you so much guys.

  12. As the title suggests. Anyone changed the standard VTi airbox with a DC2 Type R and is it worth it? Cheers.
  13. This is my project car. My weekend car. My money pit and my track weapon. And it's awful, and beautiful, and I love it. First mod, Coils. Quite a drop. Polished the car proper. Next up, wheels. Got these cheap cause they were bent (apperently). Got them straightened out recently, but got some different ones in the meantime. Those are migrating to a civic. Love this Rollbar time? Rollbar time! Makes it practical AF. That's a Server Rack. Add Seats, add bracing (rarely have this on, as I'm working on it too much). Also, those fresh new wheels I told you about. Happy LED Lights! Fixed the seat mounts. Highly recommend it. Skidnation mounts dó have slots, all the others don't. As you can see, it's 2mm off center. Sticker mods. Dropped and swapped the diff for a discounted Fuji unit. Big mistake. Get the torsen. Save up for it. 100% recommend this subwoofer placement. Depending on your passengers, get a second one. The rumblies are amazing. And invisible. Car broke down. Hat to take the valve cover off. Painted it. NOW WE'RE TALKING And then it was like this for a while. Most of 2019 really. When doing a turbo, order éverything before you break up the car. Do a mockup outside the car. PLEASE. I had to wait for fittings 2 weeks every time I discovered missing one. Ordered éverything double, so the next turbo build in the club would be way more managable. And it was. Kinda like this Making boost These are too big. They don't fit. I had to trim the rings so they could slot into each other. Feelsbadman. But then it all comes together. With a coolant reroute added in for good measure. Oh f**k yes. Oh f**k no. Coolant hose popped. Learned a LOT about stainless fittings. Towing your MX-5 Project with your Prelude Daily. This happened more than I'd like to admit. Love that Honda's butt tho. Fixed it. Boosted and zoomed at 0,5 bar for a while. Little bro's 1998 in the background. s**t. The fuji turned to crisps. Torsen Time! Bought one with a broken holder. Swapped my fuji out of mine, and this one in. Oh, so the brakes áren't supposed to make that kind of a racket all of the time? New calipers all around, new (cheap) pads in the rear. Are we leaking oil yet? We're leaking oil. (Current problem, hope it's not the pump/pan. Did the front main, but not the cam seals.) Wheels are straight now, with fresh rubber And welcome to today. Sneak peek of the daily deck.
  14. Hello guys, I've finally found a company which makes halfcages for our platform. So if you can put it in the tracktool, daily racecar, weekend turbo warrior, or just for the racecar looks. They have them as a weld in and bolt in. Even a DIy set if you'd like to build it yourselves. Even in multiple different colours! https://www.jp-cages.co.uk/product/honda-civic-mb6-half-cage/
  15. So after about 18 month of breaking up my saloon I missed my civic to much so I swapped my is200 sport cross for a completely stock manual d16w4 aerodeck back in October. It’s had 160,000 miles on it, “was” really clean came with mint headlight covers and the red key still in its box unused. Couple months have gone by got it motd and started working on it. Had all this done so far. She’s had brand new HSD dualtechs, hkb boss kit, personal wheel, rear camber arms, mesh grill, ek spoiler, dewiper, de chromed headlights, roof rail delete, back box and cat delete. Plus a few other extra bits. At the moment she’s on a set of 15x7 WORK EWINGs with brand new toyo proxes TR1s (bloody good i must say much better that the predecessor ditch finders lol) Got a lot plan with as you can probably guess for the title. The main thing will be sorting the large amount of rust that’s been found behind the plastic sills. I have the car on Instagram to with updates Divergent7_7. Stay tuned
  16. Hi guys me again, So in a continued effort to make my K20 MB2 perfect (or as close to as I can) I was recommended into getting an LSD fitted. So I'm looking for suggestions if anyone knows what works well with K20A2 and suitable for an MB2 chassis. (I'm also be looking around on K series forums too but I thought I'd also ask you guys in case anyone here is quite knowledgable about it). Many thanks once again :)

Civic5 How to guide No 8 - JDM style twin rear fog lights mod. This guide shows you how to modify your Honda Civic 5 door MA/MB rear lights to incorporate twin rear fog lights. This guide could also be used to do the same mod to the Honda Civic 5 door Aerodeck models too, although there may be some slight differences. Big thanks to member Dan1 for this great How To guide!

    Cup Holders

So, I got myself a nice deck with some Rover interior parts. But I'm not so hot on the Wood trim and gray. So I went and stripped the doors, and painted them. And I wrapped the trim. Add a dash of cheap spraypaint I then discovered, there are no real options for cup holders in the MB civic. The ones in the center console are kinda s**t. So I made my own. Put it all together Fit it to the door, and do a testfit Et voila. Cup holder. Just the other side to go. (Still waiting for parts before I close up that door.)
  19. I'm looking at swapping out my 1.4 for potentially a F20B6 motor, I'm new to this and was wondering how possible this is and where I could get engine mounts from and would my trans bolt to it or would I need to swap a different one into it? Really need help as I have a motor planned and money ready I just need to make sure this isn't a mistake Thanks
  20. I would like your wisdom, *Thought I'd put this here rather than in SOS, as this is more like a discussion and sharing of experiences* So for context, got my MB2 1.4 around this time last year and straight away I was thinking about modding, but I decided to have patience and restricted myself and kept it all stock excluding the steering wheel and seats. It's been a trooper of a car, but now this is where the fun begins. Originally I wanted to do a K swap but then I matured and realised I was in over my head, so now the plan is to source a D16Y8 SOHC VTEC, and swap that in, then turbo it. I currently have a D14A8 SOHC non-VTEC. So I just want to get input of the good people who know a lot more than me: - I'm assuming since I'm swapping in another SOHC D series engine, it should be pretty straight forward, however I still have questions such as what other components can I keep and what else I would need to replace (such as the ECU). - If anyone is adept with turbo-ing d series I would love to know what kits are good (I know ebay ones have gotten better but you can tell me if any are worth it), or if you put together your own kit then what the shopping list was. Also I would more than welcome suggestions of trusted professionals who can help without ripping me off (I am based in Chatham, Kent) - And if you have a d series turbo build I would love to hear about the power gains, reliability and cost (time and money). D16Y8 is approx 125hp, and with a turbo I would aim to get this to 210 - 230hp, please let me know if this is reasonable or crazy and what would be more realistic to expect from a daily driver turbo build. I'm also aware that (when turbo-ing) that I would need to upgrade the intake and exhaust too and would welcome recommendations. And if you want more topics to dive into, I would appreciate suggestions of good upgrades to my brakes for the power I want to make, and let me know if I would only need to upgrade components such as the pads or if it would be necessary to upgrade the whole thing. Overall I just want to find the most cost effecitve way to make my car more fun and also reliable, can't wait to hear your guys' experiences You are all much appreciated.
  21. Anyone here familiar with gravity exhaust products from ebay? Good quality or cheap chinese rip of? Found 4-1 manifold with good price. Cant find toyosport manifolds for mb6 anymore. Im looking for that Subaru rumbling sound some get with 4-1 manifolds in their mb6. Currently I get mostly droning low sounds. Need some Grunt to it without rice. Which One is better for b18c4 overall. 4-1 or 4-2-1 figuration? Considering the long gearing of s9b as well...
  22. Hi new here on the group thought it introduce myself and show you my mb civic, I had a Mb6 vti last year posted it on this group but sadly it had to go as a baby was on the way and didn't think I could afford it, bought a Mk4 golf, but straight away I hated it, was told of this little civic the same colour as my old vti and that was that, the old man I bought it off wanted 300 pound for the car aslong as he could have the number plate back, I went up To buy the car on my birthday and he was talking away and he said to me if you sort out taxing and insuring the car so I can get my number plate back pay me for all the parts I have for the car and take the car, so the car cost me 120 pound couldn't believe it, the parts I got with the car were: Honda access headlight protectors! Vtis side skirts Vtis rear lip Vti front splitters x2 Vti spoiler Vtis mats Brand new headlights So I stuck to my word motd the car etc and I had sat up. For 3 years and it passed mot first go and all I done was put an indicator bulb in the car So the car when I bought it with the parts
  23. Has anyone relocated their battery into the boot? If so how did you do it and what parts did you use? Thanks.
