  1. Hello from sweden. I have just bought a aerodeck and i dont know if i should buy 16 or 17, you are welcome to make suggestions and show pictures on your cars, also what width ET and tire demension you use. Im also going to lower my car with lowersprings 35mm in the future. My car on the picture :)
  2. Hi everyone. I've been lurking here for a couple of years now, had a tired MB3 as my introduction to the 5th gen civics, even for a s**tbox i loved it. So here I am 2 years later with an mc1 aerodeck daily drive and i've just recently bagged a MB9 Aerodeck which i'm going to clean up and possibly engine swap down the line. Heres the old beast the day i got it home. (and yes thats the old mb3 to the left, now a generous organ donor!) I paid £300 in the end. I viewed it late one evening so couldnt get a good look underneath but after poking around the next morning i could only find one tiny spot of rust under the drivers footwell. All the sills and wheel arches are somehow spotless! Really cuffed wit that so on with the first job... The drivers door had been bent round knackering it, plus the hinges and wing panel, i've got my old mb3 as a donor car so swapping them out was a must before the winter weather leaks into the interior. Aligning the door to fit smoothly was a pain and its not quite perfect yet but it at least shuts and seals out the rain better than before. I have a cleaned up dent free wing to go on too. --- I wasn't sure where to go from here, with the weather changing I thought getting the suspension and brakes stripped made most sense as i can clean up and refurb them indoors! After a good clean and sand I gave everything a few coats of 'Buzzweld Rust Encapsulator' I've been using it for a few years on the underside of my vehicles, it's great stuff and seems to keep the rot at bay, highly recommend them for paint. Waiting on black topcoat to arrive. --- Eventually suspension will go back on with new wheel bearings, ball joints, upper control arms and new hardware. The bushes all look ok to leave for now. With regards to coilovers, is anyone running the cheapo £300 ebay specials? Are they awful? I've got 2nd hand MG shocks on my daily, made such a difference to the ride I might just look out for another set for this build. --- That's it for now, more to come after payday!
  3. I was wondering if anyone else has had an issue where there wipers aren't working on the down action and on speed 2. Intermediate and speed 1 work fine. Any suggestions?
  4. Good afternoon to all, My name is Samuel , I am a dutch automotive student that studies Automotive Engineering. I've recently bought a bargian if i may say so. Thanks to Twan who is also a Aerodeck owner here i bought it. Hereby i introduce to you my 1999 Civic Aerodeck 1.5 V-tec-E. for 300 Euro. This car is only Honda Dealer Serviced so no third party's had touch this car for repairs and service. It has a fully new APK ( A yearly check up). And i know you guys will think, why is it so cheap. Well...... It has a cooling issue which i cannot source the problem. I thought of a air bleeding issue in de cooling system. It overheated when a have exited the runway so no Wind that cools the liquid. The fan works totally fine. So the only thing that i have concluded is that it has a bad gasket leak. So i will repair that in a couple of weeks, this and ofcourse some new fluids. new oil, new clutch and new sparkplugs while i am at it. But hereby i will end with some pictures.( It is quite dirty because did not had time to wash it good ! )
  5. Hi all, My name is Twan, 26 years old. I'm an automotive student. I've bought this Aerodeck a month ago and i'm having fun working on it. Wondering if this forum is still active and if there are perhaps other Dutch members. Glad I found the forum though, it has already proved helpful in a few research occasions. When I started studying I sold my car (used to own a BMW 3-series) because I was sure I wouldn't be able to afford that car anymore. Soon enough though my hands were itching and I wanted a car that was easy to work on and parts should be inexpensive and readily available. Hello Honda! As a tall person I wasn't digging the EK's but the 5 door hatchbacks seemed more my thing. My aim is to learn about the car and to have a more practical approach to some of the classes I study at school. I like the engineering part but I also love getting my hands dirty. I bought myself an Aerodeck with around 220.000 km on the D15Z8. It had a little work to be done and I've made pretty good progress in the past month. First thing was thorough inspection and treatment of rust. The car has little to no rust in the rear, just some surface spots up front. The underside had a couple small holes in it which I cut out and welded some new material in place. Upon removing left front panel there was a tonne of dirt coming out which made me wonder if the previous owner was into offroading. The wiring harness from car to door was also unfortunately cut by one of the previous owners. After the rust was taken care of I gave the car a brakes refresh front and back. Last but not least all fluids and filters were refreshed. I looked into the engine through the spark plug holes with an endoscope and the cylinder and walls looked pretty good. I've also managed to rearrange some of the wiring in my door to get the speaker to work again, the central locking mechanism for the drivers side seems stuck so I'll have to fix that. Only other thing to find out is a humming/droning noise i hear when driving 70-120 km/h so I suspect a wheel bearing might be going out. Today I found some OEM rear roof speakers for the car and installed those and I've replaced the door moldings which should keep as much water as possible out of my doors. If the car proves to be trustworthy I'm going to save up for some coilovers, rims and alignment. In the meantime there is enough crap the previous owners messed up that I'm planning to fix and clean the inside of the car thoroughly.
  6. Right... fresh start with a new car! After having an accident in my MB3 quite recently, I have to get another car to take my mind of it. So my oleman decided to help me out on buying me another M! A week later I have found a 1998 Honda Civic Aerodeck MB9 in Pirates Black! Strangely this model doesn't have Air Conditioning? I saw it on Gumtree advertised for £385. It was cheap mainly because it had 158'000 miles on the clock (we all know this is nothing to a Honda) Even though it was 300 miles away, I was determined to buy that car! Bad points: The first thing I noticed was the rust on the rear arches, but I seen worst... Scratches all over, heavy scuffs around the bumpers, a very nasty deep dent on the rear panel, no rear door handle, a broken drivers side mirror and a broken aerial. The bonnet catch has a mind of it's own (one minute it will shut, next minute it won't!) Petrol cap flap doesn't close and the door locks are dodgy at times. Every interior air vent is broken, all door card cloths are stretched and SRS light is on. What's it like to drive? Well it has a very sticky throttle, brakes don't seem that effective and one of the rear brakes binding (common) The rear trailing arm bushes need replacing and the clutch has a very high biting point. Also the revs go up and down on idle (probably the Idle air control valve) So she had a hard life but I know I can replace every part on this car from my old Civic! Also with all these faults, I manged to knock £50 off as the seller didn't even know it had these faults. So I'm chuffed with that Good points: Eveything else works! Windows close properly and all 4 speeds on heaters work surprisingly! And it has a brand new OEM headlight! It has more bottom end grunt than my MB3 (even though the MB3 has less miles and more mods) Also the fuel economy is absolutely amazing! Filled the tank right up, done 360 miles and only used just over half a tank of fuel! Anyway enough yapping, here's a few not so great pictures. I will get more up tomorrow!!
  7. we did this once before here, as part of the MG ZS group buy of heated front screens. there is one last ever (I know I said the last time would be the last), and this really will be the last time as its not worth my time and hassle and I gain nothing from this...the last ever heated screen group buy the screens WILL come with a top tint, and are dual circuit heated. They are 25£ more than the last batch 5 years ago (inflation!) at £225+vat. its a real last minute thing coz I kinda forgot about you guys, but I have to place an order Monday 8th Feb and as before £100 deposit is required, non refundable as I would be stuck with the screen and I would still have to pay the balance, but if for any reason... find someone else to buy it, whatever, we just need to fulfil the order. Its done through Ricky Evans motorsport as before, they supply cars in the BTCC. They will not stock these screens, if they would I wouldn't have to go to all this hassle for nothing, so this really is the only way to get one, there will be none left over, what I order I have to pay for and you guys pay the same cost per screen as I do, we had to pay the tooling on the first batch, believe me, its no cheap process. Call me 07941 857777 or join teh dark side - MG ZS Owners club on facebook where there is a post, or prob better still, Jason simm on facebook, its the MGZS pic with the stelio pass in the background. Sorry its last minute, but I don't want to miss you guys out.
