I would like to replace the heater core (matrix) cause it is leaking coolant. For this I have to take out the heater unit behind the dash.

I saw at the service manual that I have to take out the evaporator first.

Does anyone know if I can take the heater core out without taking out completely the evaporator

but only unscrew it and pick it up a little so as to free up the heater unit to come off?

Thanks

Ooh mate going back a while there. I removed my aircon. And used that as an opportunity to remove the evaporator.

But I do recall having to take the complete dashboard out to remove heater box to get at the matrix. How could I forget it

Sorry I didn't reply for so long.

Ok. I know that I have to remove the complete dashboard.

I only want to know if I have to completely remove the evaporator, cause this I can not do it myself.

Thanks.

Thank you guys for the replies.

I will inform about, but in July, because now I don't have much time.

Edit:

It can't be done without removing the evaporator. So, I went to evacuate the AC system and then I took it apart.

Hopefully, everything went well.
