I wonder how all that work and expense would translate to actual real world gains?

 

I suppose this only really appeals to a limited number of people.

 

Slightly off topic though..... Can that manifold heat shield fit easily enough to our engine?

Probably not a lot! These engines are difficult to eek out more power whilst staying N/A, need many monies to make a small gain!

 

What heat shield? I know there's usually one fitted as standard so finding a second hand one should be easy (he says!)

Ah that one, thought that's what you meant! Yeah could be worth a shout to 10000rpm! T'is an OEM part! :)

Yes, if the speed drops low enough 2nd is never going to cut it, a quick blip and slot into 1st wins the day. :)

Put the engine in an eg with a short box. That sorts out the laggy 2nd gear!
