Got a relay from scrapyard for a fiver, all seems fine so far. dont know if its coincidence but it seems to be running better, maybe the other one was cutting out on me

Me again, thanks for all your help and i really appreciate your comments. I know some of you have said it might be the relay and some have said it might be the ignitor. some also to me to resolder the blobs on the relay which i have done. Yesterday it cut out on me 4 times, this is first time its done this since my last post (29th April) Ive been researching on google and some saying that the relay controls the pump and the injectors, sometimes it fires pump up but doesn't fire injectors which causes them to stop. Someone also said the relay should click 3 times, pump, power then injectors (don't know if right). Plus they said you should notice it more in hot weather (which i do) Also read that if its dizzy should come up with code 15. Can these be plugged in and does anyone know what sort of plug it is and where it is. Also still have no engine management lights coming on. cheers

its done 120k now i will after keep a eye out for one or get a second hand one what done lower miles

Does anyone know. Does this relay just control the fuel pump or the ignition as well?

Car has not cut out for 2 weeks. Ive put a new cap and arm on the other day, couple of hours later it stopped on me again with no warning at all . would not start for about half an hour. Tried turning it over and it was bubbling like it was out of petrol (but had petrol in it). Pushed it down road and it started again and fires up fine ever since. Not cut out for another 2 days. resoldered the relay this morning but it does smell a bit burnt. any other ideas as i dont want to buy the ignitor if its going to cost me a fortune. No missing, no juddering just cuts out with no warning. had a word with a few mechanics and as someone has said on here if it was the ignitor it would probably goes from missing to not running at all and mine isnt missing at all. No engine management lights come on at all. Do you think i should just buy a relay and hope for the best. Need to get it sorted as it keeps cutting out on the wife when shes got the kids in the car and shes useless at breaking down. On a better note it is pulling better with the new cap on.

no no lights on at all. i pulled the wires out near the cap the block and wiggled them all and its no cut out since. could be just a coincidence that it not cut out now where did u get it for 70 pound ?

thanks ill have a look at it all. Ie got to take all the timing unit off anyway as one of my bolts has sheared on dizzy cap so ill see how i get on Cheers for info

My dad made the tool, its worked. Gave it a good shove on a 2ft bar, used tool to hold bottom pully, locked it in and it come undone. brill. Belt done on me mates car. More pain in arse than doing it on my car

tried john banks for dizzy cap it was £29.28 and for the rotor arm its £22.29 same price as my loacal honda garage but priced a clutch off him was a lot cheaper. Got blueprint rotar arm and dizzy cap for £32.00.

should i get arm and dizzy from honda u think or blueprint ones for half the price ?

well that didnt go too well. Had a look at the cap, the bottom nut is ceased in and snapped, Now ive got to take the timining bit off and drill it out. Will do that when my cap and arm comes. Found the relay gonna check that at the weekend.

i will put new dizzy and arm on then cos far as i know never ad one hope that will do it if not look at the relay then thanks for the replies ?

what exactly did you solder. Im alright soldering it. Nealry fell over, just rang Honda and they want £60 for a new relay. its a main relay they were saying, its not seperate from the pump

ok cheers for that is the relay under the bonnet or near the fuses ?
