  1. I have in fact experienced something very similar on the fat five vti alloys for the mb6/mc2.

Balancing weights sitting on the inside of the rim would very lightly skim the caliper, but that was only when one weight was stuck on top of the other. There's not a lot of room with 15" wheels over the front calipers on these cars, just enough to get a strip of weights.

I've been thinking of using 15" Honda Accord alloys on this car but my main concern is always whether they would fit over the callipers. I've been too lazy to try and find out.

  2. you'll be the new mack daddy in this pimp mobile, 250 horses yes please, good choice. would be interesting when a 1.8 vti pulls up next to you...

    from one extreme MB6 WACK11111

to the other 9-5 :ugeek: , even with 250bhp still looks like a very civilized car

  3. Adjustable front splitter and a good aero package would do more for performance than engine work I would imagine, for the intended use of this car. Semi DIY kits seem to be getting cheaper these days- http://www.carbonmods.co.uk/Products/Un ... LT001.aspx

some really sexy stuff going on here.... [smitten.gif]

theres another thread getting together some interest in hiring an airfield or a track for the Civic5 owners, you should come, then we could all drool at this in shock and awe

  4. nice car matthew, body on the car looks mint.

i'd hunt for mgzs shocks and honda civic lowering springs depending on how low you want to go, but a really inexpensive way to go is using the MGZS shocks and springs, although i'd advise on different springs at the front as those one's will make the car sit higher than the back as they're designed for a 2.5 engine.

have a browse around the different projects here and see what kind of stance you like and head in that direction.

MGZS Shocks + Springs will get you 20-25mm lower than stock

Aftermarket Springs/coilovers will get you much lower than that.

  5. I've got a jap speed 4-1, loud

James had it before so it's good quality ;)

thats encouraging, with cat or without... and another Q (let me know if i get annoying i think im buzzing today, what on i dont know?) Does your system pop when u let go of the throttle or bouncing redline since the 4-1???

ive got loud right now, had a few snaps, dont want any cackle but REALLY WANT POPPP (and some ponies)

  7. It really depends what you want from your exhaust, how you drive etc., I have a 4-2-1 mani as it gives more torque and more mid range power, the 4-1 gives more power top end.

Same with the cat/decat really, a decat probably gives the most power but because of the MOT regs you need to put the cat back in to pass, not a difficult job but a pain in the a$$, especially if your MOT is in Jan like mine. A sports cat will pass an MOT so is a good compromise but expensive.

A custom system is the best option as it can be built to exact specification and is often cheaper than aftermarket systems which don't always fit straight on.

Nail on the head! I used a 4-1 mani as i was doing alot of quarter mile racing so high revs but a 4-2-1 would be better for some B and A road bashing, as said sports cat if you can afford it and arnt very handy with the spanners, or decat if you know your friendly MOT tester.

btw htune have an offer on p-l-m 4-2-1 2.5inch short tube same-ish as tegiw****r/toda £299

£300 is bit of a stretch atm, theres this Japspeed 4 into 1, anyone have reviews on this , for £90 sounds like a bargain... is it a case of you pay for what you get which in most cases is.

I need to upgrade or weld the stock system by easter.... but budget is tight as fook... bad days... dreams>budget

  8. Looks epic!

Please say you are keeping the roof rails 8-)

    +1 8-)

    ...x3

cage looks awesome, pedal box looks like it might take a while gettin used to... liking the thread updates keep them coming.

I agree with Matt on the Champ White, one of the best looking colours on the decks i've seen was someone at the ring in a Pirates Black with dark grey dc2 wheels, but i think the whole body shape and vti's kit sticks out better in silver.

Dave, are you going to be gettin the underbody boarded up for the aerodynamics, i think that would be a sweet addition to the project, rear diffuser would look hot, and also serve a purpose - increase emm.... stability

    :D:D

  9. having the right set of wheels to me means everything, if you can't beat stock then stick to stock cos you can't beat it.

Back when i got my car the first thing I did was refurb the wheels to a dark grey and it satisfied the mod craving, and kept to OEM

are the volvo rims just as light as the vti one's you have already, i defo'z think they'd look nice and are they 16s you're going for?

I don't think this s**tting ebay filter is doing you any good. ;)

used to have one of those metal cones on my 95' corolla 1.3, the engine sounded like a monster when you put your foot down, but the thing is they don't really filter the air so potentially dust particles etc are getting sucked into your engine meaning increased engine wear and more frequent service intervals.

sound is amazing cant deny it...

is that a metal filter or does it have some sort of cotton filter inside?

i've seen the thread already such a muppet sometimes, really bad short term memory cheers

  11. yep they do 135+mph on closed roads all day long and thats with 160k on the clock with std intake, defos' in need of some good servicing cos that doesn't sound like a B18

have u got any pics of the newly acquired MC2? get a project thread on the go...

  12. I would say mine is dropped, as its on mgzs shocks and springs. I just want some of noodles lower arms now.

And the extra turn in they provide [smitten.gif]

extra turning circle, i'll have me some of that...

i'd say theres a quite a demand building up for these forks... where can we get em' ?

    [smitten.gif]

No, the car turns in quicker ;)

Noodles is your man, although I thought I had the last pair, ever :?

    sharing is caring...

  13. Hey everyone,

I just want to gather some info on what the views are on exhaust systems set ups, what you have, what do you think is the best and why?

This may have been done a few times but just to refresh and let people bring their thoughts forward. Pro's and Con's, what to avoid and what works best in terms of money well spent.

    Since we can break down the system into four different components, we can post from the following options on the poll;

    1. Manifold ( Stock / 4into1 / 4into2into1 )

    2. Cat ( Stock / Sports / De-cat )

    3. Mid Section ( Stock / Custom Stainless Steel / Aftermarket )

    4. BackBox ( Stock / Aftermarket / Custom )

  14. Question for jamesmyson

@james i've heard if your in ireland and the police try to pull you over you can make a run for the NI border, is this true?

(Im a maniac these are the thoughts that go round in my head.... too much NFS tbh... I don't like pulling over for the flashy lights ;) )

  15. @maxposer,

do u mean at the top of the rear screen? maybe you try an ep3 spoiler maybe it could be customised to fit, im not sure how it's mounted, i've always wanted to try and get one of those for the aerodeck, really think it would look smart.

but an idea more suited for the mb6 If you're talking about adding a lip/ spoiler at the top of the rear screen you could always get those diffuser fins build them on a plate and to put at the top of the rear screen would give it an awesome look, similar to those seen on evo 7,8,9's... and i think i've seen these on a few customized bmw e39 m5's...
