Thanks guys. I'll get straight on to it this morning. I'll try the pins first but if push comes to shove, do you know where to find a re-conditioned calliper? Is there a company that specialises in Aerodeck parts? Thanks again, John

I wonder if anyone has experienced a problem with the front brake pads intermittently heating up badly. About a month ago I was on a day out when I heard a sound as though I had a flat tyre. I pulled over and found the front off-side brake pads smoking and as hot as hell. (Couldn't put my hand anywhere near the calliper or disk.) Okay, I thought, the pads must be finished although I hadn't heard any metal to metal sounds. I let everything cool down and drove slowly home but surprise, surprise, no noise and the brakes worked fine. I took the wheel off and checked the pads but there was plenty of meat and more to the point, the brakes were cool. I surmised that I had maybe picked up a bit of grit or rust. Problem solved. NOT SO. After about 800 miles of driving, last week it happened again. Then again today. This time I checked the bearing to see if it was the hub heating up and not the brakes although I'm sure it would have fallen off by now. I couldn't find any movement and once again, when I took the car for a drive everything was perfect. I'm stumped. I would appreciate any ideas from anyone with a greater knowledge than me. (Which includes everyone in the world apart from my wife and 3 daughters. On second thoughts, include my wife.) Thanks everyone John

Good idea. Being an 'Oldy Mouldy' and on a pension I'm always on a budget. Hey-Ho, such is life'

Thanks for the advice. I'll have a go. I don't mind getting down but old age dictates how fast I can get back up again. Thanks again, John

Hi, Could anyone out there advise me on how to change the headlight washer jet on my Aerodeck. I can't see how to get to the little tinker without taking the front bumper off. Surely there must be an easier way than that. Just as a matter of interest, has anyone got a second hand jet they are willing to sell. I haven't bought one yet because the Honda price is about £24.00 but to fit it is an extra £65.00, hence my original question. Thanks, John

HELP! Anyone got a 99 Civic heater fan motor for sale??
jacktar replied to jacktar's question in SOS! Help!!
Thanks guys. First of all I'll look for a Rover 45/400 fan to see if it will fit. (Couldn't find a Civic fan for my car) In the mean time I'll knock the hell out it if that's the way it wants to play it. We'll see who's the boss, but don't hold me to that. -
Has anyone out there got a heater fan motor for sale to fit a 1999 1600 Civic Aerodeck? I've cleaned mine out and fitted a new resister but it still insists on randomly refusing to work. When it's running it will keep on working until I switch it off or until I switch off the ignition. After that it's in the lap of the gods as to whether it works when I switch it on again. It will start at some point if I keep trying over a period of time as I am driving but it's a nightmare in the cold weather. I can only think that it's the fan motor. (I hope it is anyway. I don't want to think about trying to trace a bad connection.) If anyone has a fan motor for sale or any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!

Thanks everyone for your advice. Being over 70 any lessening of the squirming around underneath trying to find the ruddy things is a great help. jacktar

Thanks everyone. Just as a matter of interest, if I have to get to the fan, is it on the drivers side or the passenger side.

Thanks for that. I'll try that ebay site but if that doesn't work I suppose I'll have to bite the bullet and delve behind the facia. The wife doesn't take too kindly to being cold.

Thanks Shamz. That's the problem though. I've looked on ebay but they seem to be advertising them for mk.4 or mk.5 cars and I don't know which one mine is or whether one resistor fits all. Jacktar

Hello everyone. I'm brand new to the club, (Yesterday) but I already know from reading the posts that the heater resistor problem has been well discussed, however my glitch is a bit different. Yes, positions 1 and 2 don't work. I have put up with it because I didn't know about the resistor.(I thought it was a bum switch.) but what is happening now is 3 and 4 are just going off completely for no reason, leaving me with no heating then coming back on again suddenly some time later at random. I have visions of having to strip out the console to try to find a bad connection somewhere but I'm now wondering if it could also be to do with the resistor. I want to buy a resistor to at least try it but this leaves me with another problem. I don't know which one to get because I don't know for certain whether my MC1 1600 Auto Aerodeck is a mk.4 or a mk.5. ((It's 1999 but Europarts keeps telling me it's 1998) I would appreciate any help any advice with the heater problem and any info about the mark. Thanks jacktar
