Moe
Right got a fiddly problem with my mb6, if the car is left running for a little while it wont engage vtec in first gear. the car still redlines but has no exhaust note change and is sluggish at top end, but as soon as i change to second it comes alive again. after that the vtec engages fine in all gears its only when its been left idling for a little whileoil is spot on, it gets changed every three months, service is spot on etc. new dizzy caps and rotor arm, iv stripped the vtec solenoid and cleaned evrything out. could the vtec solenoid be on the way out? Guest
tach speed, vehicle speed, oil pressure, engine temp, etc all determine when the vtec works. if one of them are wrong then it wont work.could be a dodgey ecu or not enough oil pressure in first gear to set it off. first gear has the lowest oil pressure.you could disconnet the air temp sensor and see if vtec engages as it always engages when car is in closed loop mode.
