belfastlad123 Posted July 7, 2011 Share Posted July 7, 2011 my mate was having a look under the bonnet earlier and he noticed a blow out on the 421 manifold where the 4 turns to 2 at the joint.i bought it second hand and it has seen a bit of exhaust paste.whats best to get rid of the blow out.was going to sand the exhaust paste down and put some chemical metal on would that do the job ??shoudve just bought a new manifold lol Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Didjeridave Posted July 8, 2011 Share Posted July 8, 2011 Is it due to rust or cracking? Cracking should weld up fine, but if it's rust, expect to buy a new one soon. I've had that on a couple of bike mani's. Most garages I went to didn't want to even try welding it, tbh I don't blame them, it'd be like trying to weld crisp packets! I've managed to run one for nearly a year with bits of tin can & one of the repair kits that come with the wrapping. Even saw through an MOT with that!
