Odd front tyre wear issue

That's interesting- I thought the optical computer fandango jobbies were the best tool for setting up cars with 4 wheel alignment. When I did a track rod end on the old civic I got a tyre place to realign it with the old on front wheel type of thing; seemed ok after that but this time I have also recently changed my trailing arm bushes so thought it might be better to get all 4 checked. Not used this place (http://www.dtstyres.co.uk) but they come recommended. Glad I'll be paying them to pee about with it then; if it's worse they can sort it out! I'll let you know how it goes.

the laser/optical computer alignment system are great,

but the system where all of the measurement's are done from wheel to wheel on the car only, like this are much more flexable and can handle it if the car is off center and at an angle it'll still track it, as long as it is on a level surface

these are then displayed on a computer.

the hunter type of system where there is a fixed frame at the front of the ramp and then "targets" mounted on the wheel like this

all it take's is for the car to be off center and/or at an angle to the fixed frame, and it knacker's up the whole system and making the tracking worse...

Slow progress on this due to chronic lack of funds. Got the tyres on today (that have been sat in my boot for weeks ). Tyre fitter reckons it's probably more to do with the tyres than the tracking; sidewalls were pretty knackered from being run soft. Certainly seemed a lot better behaved on the drive home on a new set of T1-R's despite greasy roads and release agent .
