now to source a hydraulic press... hmm... gatta keep looking..

anyone wanna lend a hydraulic press for a week.. :)

  2. i had a look at the rear... man i cant see anything else but rust... some of these bolts.. i am not even sure if any would come off..

i am changing the hand brake cables and am having problem taking of the braket off the cable (to bolt on to the caliper) and the holding pin at the very end which also bolts on to the caliper itself... its a nightmare... socked it in brake fluid and its still not budgging.. :(

  3. Hey guys,

Is there is a how to on getting the full suspension out and insttaling the MGZS ones on an MB6.

I had a look through the How to Section cant find any.

If someone could give a rough idea that will be great, if there is a sequence to do the job..??

  4. Hi guys,

I am in the process of fully refurbing my braking system… got my nearly new discs skimmed all four of them.. all four callipers refurbed and powder coated, new braided brake hoses and new hand brake cables…

Now the only thing left is the Brake Master Cylinder (me thinks :???: )…

Does anyone know if the Brake Master Cylinder can be refurbed with a new seal kit…?? If so, where do I get the seal kits from..?

    Cheers

  5. the thing is i am still unsure what need to be done excatly.. i am thinking a 8-9 mnths project to get my car fully sorted out..

all i want is to run the same displacement.. so i dont wanna increase the CC.. but to get near enough to 200hp..

i am still unsure what i need to do to get this... as far as geting another engine.. not sure.. mine needs a lot of work.. body work engine gearbox brakes and a lot more.. so i am thinking to get her off the road to build it up slowly.. buy next summer.. :D

  9. Hi guys,

When choosing pistons, what is the best compression ratios to go for when rebuilding an engine. I know the better the compression ratio the more power.. (or am i wrong). but i also read its not good for the engine.. so what is the safest ratio to go for.

I read its 10.0:1 for standard B18C4 engine.. (from Wikipedia), is that correct.. ??

Any info would be helpful guys.. :)

  11. Hi guys,

    I have a few questions regarding an engine rebuild;

When rebuilding an engine, say if the block was re-bored, do you re-bore the block to the next size up from the original size? Is that dimension set or do you bore it to the next size pistons available?

If the engine was not re-bored but just honed can I use the original pistons with a new set of rings or do I have to change the pistons as well?

When rebuilding an engine, does the values and springs need to be replaced or the old ones still useable? Do I have to change it if the engine was re-bored?

And is there a list of standard things that needs changing when building an engine; i.e. bearings, gaskets etc.

And one last question, is it better to get a decent second hand used gearbox or build the one already have to use with the new engine. (Mine is crunching in almost all gears; first gear is a pain sometimes to get into, have to yank it into gear. Second, Third and fourth crunches when going to gear. Fifth seems ok and reverse again not that smooth. Even when in gear the gear stick moves around like its in neutral, soo much play :(:( )

If anyone can shed some light into these questions it will most appreciated.
