Hi there looking for my old car Cindy Civic X998 FLE
PsychoDogBeast replied to PsychoDogBeast's topic in Chat Lounge
Hi there Cheers again for all the replies and help. Im now the new owner of a fn2. Its red on a 07. 35k miles fully loaded including sat nav. I did loads of research as I always do when buying cars. Checked rust on doors clutch noise third gear syncros etc. It was bought as a approved honda last year so still has a bit of warranty left too. Collected it from Birmingham on friday and even though I was stuck I traffic for 4 hours I found it very comfortable compared to the m3. It feels a little slow compared to the bmw but it does twice as many miles for the money. On first impressions im really really happy. Will do a full review and post pics soon Cheers james -

I know but I dont really want 10 grand in a car again. It was bad with the m3 it was worth 14k I darent park it anywhere. Was scared of it getting damaged etc. The dc05 is the best shaped car available for that money. Its truly beautiful Cheers james -

Hiya lads Dave thanks for the great reply, a totally unbiased review like that is just what i need to read, would you believe as a daily driver it sounds exactly the same as my BMW used to be, especially the driving from cold, it was a pig, stuttering, kangarooing like you say, maked you look like a learner driver, so that ticks box number 1 lol The suspension on the M3 was again hard as nails, if you sat in the back it was unbearable, i had a Milltek cat back on it as well (bad choice) so i think the Civic should be nice and quiet I like the exterior of the car, when they first came out i thought it looked hideous, but its grown better with age, very futuristic. the one im going to see tommorow is 'fully' specced out, it even has sat nav, i wanted all the toys my M3 had, parking sensors/auto lights/wipers/folding mirrors/sat nav etc, it seemed a shame to go backwards. The mpg im not too bothered about as, the BM did 220 miles to a tank (£85) and i averaged 18mpg, on a run the highest i saw was 28mpg and the lowest i ever saw was 3.9mpg!!!!!!!, but boy that thing did shift I think providing the exterior of the civic is well built im not too bothered about the odd rattle and squeek, the exterior of the BMW was crap, it was built out of cheap sttel, ive never chased surface rust on a car like that before, in my ownership (under 12 year corrosion warranty) it had 2 new wings, sills/ rear flanks/ windscreen pillers painting and a new boot floor as it was starting to corrode and crack, the bill for the latter was £6900! paid for BMW uk, the thing only had 50,000 miles on it Ive had a look at all the cars available between 7-10k and the civic is the only one i really like, id have a S2000 but the other half has said no to 2 seaters, i guess the kids do come first and no way in gods earth would i have another BMW Ive owned 5 hondas before and never had any bother with them, the last been cindy C, in 7 years including suspension, brakes, paint, body kits etc i couldnt have spent more than 3k on her, in the first month i spent £3k on the BM Thanks again for all the great advice James -

Cheers I think by now the old girl will be completely knackered (the lad i sold it to, had it bumped/or bumped it) i saw it up for sale again last year and it had a 1.4 front bumper and the original 15" vti wheels. Ive done some reading on the FN2's and they sound pretty cool cars, im sure will be nippy but not in the same league as the big straight six. best regards james -

Hiya dave hows it goin. Ha ha ive never been away just turned into a long time lurker good to see ruby still going strong and the new owner looking after her. I did a askmid check this afternoon and like you say shes still taxed so thats great. I think the fn2 urge is calling me now. But if I can find cindy between now and friday id happily pay good money for it. It was the best car ive ever had best regards james -
Hi there all I havn't been around here for a long time but do check back regularly, used to own Rubys twin X998 FLE down here in Huddersfield, but swayed away a couple of years ago to drive an E46 M3, I've just sold the M3 on sunday and have decided to get back into Honda ownership. The M3 was great, very reliable, parts were dear and when minor things needed doing they were very expensive, fuel was grim but it goes with a 3.2 litre engine. There was always the back of my mind is it going to break, or when is it going to break thoughts, i was also disappointed with the build quality too, to say it was a prestige car the quality of the body was worse than my old MB6. Anyway's i was wondering if my old Cindy Civic was still doing the rounds, or if anyone still owns it on here, im going to see a FN2 type R on friday, but if anyone still has my old car i would happily pay good money to buy it back if they want to get rid. Cheers James

Hi there all Its been a long time since i posted here, i moved away to the BMW darkside last year, and am wondering if anyone on here still has my car and if yes if its still running ok. Last i heard of it was the lad i sold it to in leeds had bumped it or had it bumped, then saw it again on ebay in december last year and it looked nothing like when i sold it, the bodykit had been removed and the 16" accord type s wheels had gone. Best regards James

Cheers for the replies It was a choice between this and a s2000. But having surrogate children to ferry about a two seater had no chance Its nowhere near as nice as the e36 or e30 but currently for the money theres nothing to touch an e46. Cheers james -

Hi there all I couldn't resist, My bros been running M cars for the past 2 years (owns too E34 5 series M5's) and they are just awesome machines. I was all set to buy a E36 M3 4 or 5 years ago and backed out last minute to keep Cindy, still been ankering after one for all this time, this one showed up with full dealer history, facelift and only 40k on the clock for what i call a bragain price. I will still be back here looking at the old threads and maybe seeing if the next owner of Cindy C whoever he or she may be, becomes a member. Best regards James -
Hi there all I managed to get back here for a short while, unfortunately ive been offered my dream car for a price i couldn't refuse. I will be taking delivery of a E46 M3 on friday in Estoril 'M' blue with only 40,000 miles on the clock. I will be checking back here from time to time though, argh i thought when i posted here last week id be keeping old Cindy for another year I'l post pictures of the Beemer when i pick it up. I'm sure Cindy will go to a good home, im sure youve all guessed by now where she is best regards James

Hi there all I havnt been on here for a while but i thought i ought to post what repairs ive had to do to Cindy for the last 3 years of happy motoring Apart from the tires, routine servicing, oil changes and ridiculous cost splitfire spark plugs. rear drop links, 3 sets front anti roll bar bushes, 3 sets drive shafts, both sides, the Honda ones get weak at 85-90k and snap under hard acceleration on lowered cars rear anti roll bar bushes, once.....replaced with a MG ZS rear anti roll bar, with new bushes (good mod) 1 Battery exhaust, had a Toyo sports exhaust off ebay, good quality but very annoying, rear tip looked daft and was really noisy, car went to Nortech in barnsley for a new centre box welding in and an OEM stainless tip (result) New door card off ebay as my velour came adrift New windscreen due to some pleasant!!! moron cutting me up on the M62 and flicking a stone at my car. So there you have it, Shes been my best car to date, been the most reliable car ive had to date and still going strong for the 8 years ive owned her. Not bad for the so called unloved Civic lol Cheers for reading James
-
Thanks Cindys still going great, still gets washed twice a month and has never let me down, i might start a thread about what ive had to do to keep happy motoring for the last three years....which has been very little James

Cheers for the kind replies folks, i remember what a great forum this is. James, ive still got my supercharged golf as well if you can remember from all those years ago best regards James

Hi there all Its been a couple of years since i looked at this forum, used to post regularly but moved away to volkswagen and watch forums (other car and hobbies) Had a good read through the forum, glad its still going strong and theres still a good following for our Civic 5's, read some tragic news, Dave my sincere condolences , I only met Dawn and yourself at a Civic5 meet at Mallory Park (remember me, i brought you an MC2 spoiler for her Aerodeck). Still got Cindy Civic, shes still going strong and just gone over the magic 100,000 miles, still in the same condition as she was when winning car of the month in october 2010 Thanks for reading James viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1184

Hi there all...Ive already started on my new years list for 2011 My sprayers already painted me a new spolier (thanks strictlyboost) and car is going down to the paintshop on saturday to have it fitted and a few bits of rear arch rust removing. Im also having my wheels refurbed at the same time, its only taken 12 months lol. Might even put the MG ARB on this month if i get chance. James

Cheers for all the replies. I'm going to have a look into getting some spacers machined, but ive also spoken to the guys at Koni regarding the springs been too low and they have put me intouch with camberley auto factors, the suppliers of the koni kit, so watch this space! cheers James
-
Hi there all After running the 'cheapy' Koni Str.t suspension on my MB6 for the last 8 months ive finaly decided, the front end is far too low. My MB runs on accord fitting 16" wheels and after putting a pair of new tyres on the front its starting to catch the arches on hard cornering and im sick of pothole watching, ARB drop links creaking under the strain. I like the feel of the suspension, its firm and not too crashy and if i could raise the front of the car by 20-30mm it would be ideal. Ive read on teh forums members running the eibach springs, but with spacers to raise them a little, does anyone know of where i can purchase the spacers, collars etc? Failing that, can anyone give me any info on what i should swop the front springs/shocks to drop the car roughly 25mm from standard but still give a nice ride and better handling than stock. Many thanks in advance James
