if i ware you dude i would keep the oe exhaust and weld a pipe in to replace the back box ... when the exhaust was broke on my vti-s before the backbox the sound was awsome better than the monggose i had on .. you could get a pipe welded in for pennies

civic vti-s > 32 mpg integra type r > 28 mpg subaru impreza turbo > 27- mpg a comparison between the two lower mpg cars will show you what you will be dealing with, scooby mpg in a civic --- you better have deep pockets if you want to do this =] i know i would be sticking with oe gearbox
