  1. Yes its had a few knocks and scrapes here and there, and yes I will be keeping it, just a bad day at work brought on a bad mood lol. I have called it hector after the number plate haha! Next item on the list is to sort the interior as the coverings on the door card have started to peel off, plus I will be steam cleaning the mats as well as the boot floor cover. After doing that I might replace the rad as I felt a bit of water at the bottom (but no loss of coolant "weird") as I don't really want that to let go in the middle of nowhere. Then hopefully it'll be ready for cornwall!
  2. Well the problem is back. sometimes it will bog down below 3000 rpms and at other times the problem isn't there. I am now getting very annoyed about this to the point that I am thinking about just getting rid of it and starting again with another car. I am supposed to be going to cornwall soon, a journey of 400 miles and I cannot do that in a car I just do not feel safe about. Thanks for the help so far though guys.
  3. Well I have re-set the ECU and it seems to have helped the acceleration somewhat, now to give it a damn good clean! 1"£££$££"!
  4. Thanks for the suggestions. The acceleration problem is bugging the hell out of me as everything else is good, it only seems to affect it at around 1000 to 3000 rpms, above 3000 rpms its fine. I really hope it turns out that I only need to re-set the ecu.
  5. Well I have replaced the primary o2 sensor and had the mechanic check out the four wheel alignment. Also had a look at the suspension bushes and they are fine. However I am still getting "spotty" acceleration so I am going to try a fuel cleaner in my next fill up to see if that clear it. All the vacuum hoses are fine, the air filter and fuel filter are new and during the diagnostics after the o2 sensor was fitted there were no error codes, brakes are fine also. Hmmmmm.....
  6. Well I have had the rear suspension bushes looked at and they are ok. The hesitation on accelaration has gone as well, which I am putting down to some dodgy fuel I got at asda. The o2 sensor will be replaced at m.o.t time which is in may as I do not have any spare cash at the moment.
  7. Piccies I will check out the bushes thank you. I set aside about £500 to sort it out, but that fund is rapidly drying up as I need to set money aside for my holiday.
  8. Well hello folks! I have as the title suggested, brought a £800 2000 aerodeck 1.6 vtec from Ebay whilst delirious from taking too much nightnurse for man flu. So off I set from Essex to Nottingham through closed roads and white-out freezing fog. First impressions were good on the test run, however I did notice that the temp needle was swinging all over the place, and the front tyres were right on the limit, so new front tyres and a new thermostat were added to the things to do list. Driving 140 miles back to Essex was fun with no heater but I made it back and the Honda never skipped a beat. Having checked out the service history I decided to replace the cambelt, cambelt tensioner, water pump, service etc just for peace of mind, however I have experienced hesitation on acceleration and the engine check light has come up. I suspect that the o2 sensor has had it as it has done 106.000 miles and hasn't been replaced. After that the next job on the list is to have all four wheels aligned/ camber sorted out as I have noticed that my rear tyres have wear on the inside edge. Will update.
  9. Well when I drive on the open road the temp needle goes down almost to the bottom. But having been told about the iacv valve that may be the culprit as well as my car has done 106.000 miles.
  10. Hey guys, I have a problem with my 1.6 vtec aerodeck. Basically it will erratically idle between 1000 -2000 rpms when cold but settle down to 800 rpm when warm. I suspect the thermostat is on the way out, could this be the cause? Thanks
