Aye Simpo - doubt the links are working on that ARB either!
-
Pics sorted now. What you reckon - ARB saveable or a fiver scrap for the lot? Reality is setting in now - can't believe I've spent 150 on this pile of ****. Rage growing.......

Gutted to say that it was 50 squid delivered, 150 for the lot and still on Ebay now. I know it's well over the odds but this fella reckoned it was all in good condition and from a 38K miler! If it was true I'd have been happy to pay it! Looks like the last 30K miles were done on Tynemouth Longsands!

Bought the full setup from them mate. The rears look in decent condition but could be anything wrong with them judging by the fronts!. ARB has rust and paint flaking, hopefully should clean up ok though. Brackets and links included and these look ok one side, rough as owt the other!. I'll go get a few pics.

Noodels - Probably the same ones sent to me! Simpo - I've mailed them but no reply yet. Replies were almost instant when I asked before buying! I'll see what they say about refund/replacement, if anything. I'm gonna clean-up and paint the ARB before fitting and still got a clutch master and slave to fit so a few jobs to do. Was looking forward to fitting the shocks though and found this on Youtube. Vid's a bit cheesy but looks a similar setup to an M.

Not good at all! Simpo - Sorry if i sounded a bit sarky earlier - just not too happy about this at the minute. I can only assume that they've sent them knowing they are knackered or sent them without properly checking. Either way the n*bheads shouldn't be selling used car parts. I got them from Ebay, seller cwvehicledismantlers. Think a few people on here have bought the same setup from them. I mailed them before buying asking about the condition/mileage of the parts (they had 6 sets) and was told that the best set would be picked from the shelf. If this is the best set then b*llocks to a replacement. Think i'm gonna go for full refund and take the hit on return postage. Just means I've got a set of rears (which seem in pretty good condition, with matched production dates, the front dates are both scratched out!) that I can't use. Gotta say that a good proportion of the stuff I've bought from Ebay over the past few years has had something wrong with it! Lesson finally learned I reckon but that's another topic!

I'll do it the old fashioned way - http://s529.photobucket.com/albums/dd336/captthorat/

Well just got back in from work to a parcel from CWdismantlers containing my full set of mg suspension. Looks like the ARB is in middling condition but pretty sure I'll be holding back on the suspension swap! - Not too happy about this especially as the tw*ts dropped the price by £18 quid a few days after I bought these. What type of person sells gear in this condition?

Think I get you, just split the front damper from the fork and leave the fork in place? Looking at the manual the front does seem a tad easier and just sussed what it means by torquing the bolts under load (i'm a sparky by trade)! Once all this is done has anyone had any trouble with alignment or handling problems? Is it best to then get a full alignment done or just see how it drives? Mine's pretty sorted right now with a tiny bit pull to the left so hopefully should'nt make much of a difference. Think I'll do the rear ARB first though just to see what the difference is over standard.

If It can be done without ramps then that's gonna save me a bit! Just thought that any rubber mounts have to be torqued up with the weight of the car on the wheel and I assumed I'd not be able to get to the bolts without a ramp/pit, Is it easy to get to them or will the car need heightened on wood/blocks? James - A very kind offer and great if you would. I've got the manual but nowt like getting it first-hand from someones who's done it! Not sure when I'm gonna do it but maybe do the front one week then back the next. My car's not a daily driver (got a Vito for work) so no trouble about doing it in steps.

Thanks for the replies lads. Truth is I've a full setup already just wanna know if it's gonna be worth getting it all done at once. I can do the ARB myself at home but changing shocks will be a ramp job but you've twisted my arm - gonna go for it!

Can anybody give a bit more info about the effect of the MG 180 suspension (shocks, springs, rear ARB) on the handling, comfort, and general pro's and cons against standard MB6 suspension? I like the ride of my standard MB6 but seems a tad slow/unbalanced responding in hard cornering, just don't wanna gain better cornering for 5% of the time then get my fillings jarred loose for the remaining 95%! I've got a 180 rear ARB to fit but just wondering if it's worth going for the full setup? I'm using standard 15" alloys on 195/55.

That sounds like the sealant is failing badly, or as you say, not been fitted right previously. Either way, I'd reckon the screen would have to be removed to repair properly. Plenty stones/bricks flying around out on the roads!

They certainly are around the top corners. Had two MB6's and both have leaked in the drivers side top corner. Just did a bit of a quick bodge to mine the other week - pulled back the black down trim, cleaned the area with degreaser then pumped a load of clear, exterior, flexible silicon into the corner and replaced the trim. Seems to have done the trick and was no trouble during the recent downpours. Other option is get it replaced on insurance if your windscreen were damaged in any way! Usually free or a small excess to pay but those down trims are a right b****r to remove so probably gonna have a few broken clips when it goes back on.
