My 96 obd 1 D14A2 Ma8 has a Denso MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor on top of the throttle body. The ecu uses this along with other sensors such as coolant temp, oxygen sensor (lambda) and vehicle speed sensor etc. So in answer to your question yes most if not all 1.4 civics have an airmass meter of sorts and yes you can fit an induction kit as the sensor is located after the throttle butterfly and therefore will take into effect any increase in airflow and inform the ecu.
