  1. Yes, I usually just use a wire brush wheel on the drill machine. I then polish with sandpaper and those sandpaper pads to get the real effect. For instance the VTEC solenoid and the engine mount were done only with the pads and sandpaper, the bolts and nuts only with the wire brush wheel. Yeah, we have a workshop (will make some pics on sunday) that we rent for 300€, but there is 3 of us, so only 100€ a month, which is not that expensive I think. We also have a lot of tools there from the workshop owner.
  2. So, I got a B18C4 VTI which is bone stock. I also have a 4-2-1 noname exhaust header and a Skunk2 pro intake manifold laying around. Now my question is...would I even benefit something from this combo? So the mods would be: -Skunk 2 intake manifold -Probably some sort of a CAI or something -4-2-1 exhaust header -55/60mm exhaust The thing that concerns me is the ECU mapping. I would surely need to get it mapped, but that is pretty expensive (450€ with the Neptune chip). Is the stock ECU capable of learning with these mods? What about the second set of butterflies in the stock intake manifold? How are these things done on our funny engines?
  3. Also my arches are so bad, they would probably just fall off. I am thinking of 195-45 tires, I have some off my friend for free, so maybe this is best bet for now and then do the arches properly
  4. Well actually I can't I have 4.gen Meisters, this is the highest setting I already talked to MeisterR and they said they have some longer forks for the rear. I need to get the calipers back and assemble the engine bay back, so I can go for a drive
  5. I would need to smash the s**t out of them! But they are rusty anyway, who cares
  6. Soo, I finally mounted the Superturismos on the car and... we have a problem. Specs are: 16x7 ET40 with 205/50 tires. This: Crap! When I lower the rear it squishes the tyre a bit (they are flat) and it is uselees. Front a bit better, but still. I could probably only drive straight :/ So now or I need to get 195/45 tire or something that silly, or just roll/pull/smash the fenders out. There is a fair bit of cancer on the rear arches and front wings have some paint bubbling too, so maybe I should widen it a bit?
  7. I already called to check if they are really 4x114, it's a real pain in the arse to get some nice wheels with this PCD. He doesn't know the ET, but it's probably 42 or something like that. Still better than volvo's, because they are narrower and higher ET. I think 16x7 with ET35 would be spot on! Here is the ad: http://www.avto.net/_OPREMA/ad.asp?ID=8289652&show=2
  8. I actually just found out genuin OZ superturismos with 205/50-16 tyres for 220€, I am going to get them after work I think they will look even better, they are also 16x7, volvo wheels are only 6.5j wide.
  9. GUYS! I need help, can't decide if wheels look good or not, majority of my friends said they look good on the car, that it suits well. Also without tires looks a bit crappy, maybe when I get some beefy tires, it would look better. What do you think?
  10. Nice to know! Thanks guys! On the engine bay, there is still a lot of thing to do. I am waiting for some nice bits to tidy the engine bay some more, but to do it properly, the engine needs to be pulled out and everything done like the distributor
  11. I got the timing light on friday, so we set ignition timings on my Shuttle and my friends Shuttle. Runs much better now and pulls harder. I did some dirty work on the VTI, I needed to flush the cooling water out and replace the thermostat, God there was a mess I also pulled the oil pan off the car. Not ONE bolt was tightened on the pan. Not one! Then I done some more polishing: The biggest pain in the a*s was obviously the distributor...I spent a lot of hours on it, but not all in one go. I just had it sitting on the bench and every day I was working a bit on it. Now It's assembled, so no more work on this b*****d. What do you guys think?
  12. I am thinking, maybe I would buy some wheels, If frenkslo wouldn't want to sell his... What do you think about these OEM Volvo wheels?
  13. OK, some more unneccessary stuff done This is the engine mount, already "polished" on the flat stuff, but still pretty dirty where the bolts are. Dirty nuts: Shinny! Assembled. Actually had much problems with taking a picture, it's so shinny More rusty nuts: Aaand more shinny nuts: My stick was dirty Such shinny! Much wow! This is actually photographed without flash, it was burning my eyes! Then, for the end, I took the master cylinder off and cleaned it inside and of course outside. This was inside:
  14. I found 10cents Well, I don't have a clue, we will see. I will have a heat wrapped header, but still, I am a bit concerned too, I can put it off if I want
  15. Yesterday I cleaned under the rear seats, let the pic speak for itself, I was shocked the first time I lifted the seats Also got the car out of the garage for the first time since the coilovers are fitted
  16. Good! Thanks! What about the bonnet and the grille on it?
  17. Oh nice! Yes, I need the front mask! This is the most important thing now, and front wings, if they are same to the deck? I didn't actually drive it yet, because I am still waiting the calipers, so no brakes at the moment.
  18. I think it looks very good, the problem is, I am a bit sceptical on how it will hold over some period of time... I also dipped the upper trim on the doors, but forgot to take a pic...
  19. Some new goodies this weekend: Close up on the HEL braided brake lines I currently don't have other stuff to do, because I am waiting for some stuff, so did a bit of cleaning... Before (VTEC solenoid): After: Before (intake pipe): After: Also, wanted to test the plastidip thingy, so I sanded the parts, also got rid of this random text on the airbox: How it looks plasti dipped:
  20. 10000rpm doesn't want to answer me, I sent him 2 PM's, but still no answer. Over the weekend I finally managed to get EF front forks and some new shinny bolts for the rear end and put it together. With EF coilovers Let the pics speak for themselves: I like it, just the exhaust is big and fugly, so will need to be changed to a bazooka style muffler
  21. Damn, I need to buy new rear brake pistons, got quoted 44€ for both Well, yeah, quite a thing going on, but there is still some cancer on the rear arches to sort and I need to source an MG ARB, new front grille and so on...
  22. I obviously want it to be low, but still not stupidly low. I need this car as a daily, so if I get from work to home with no problems, then I'm good Thanks, a lot more to come!
  23. While waiting for bolts, I started working on the engine bay a bit. All rusty brackets are going to be sandblasted and powdercoated, everything cleaned and maybe some mild wire tuck (nothing major). Like you'll be able to see on the following pages it's dirty, greasy, rusty and generally not pretty. Oil leak from the cam seal which resulted in a horribly greasy and gunky engine block: After several broken fingers and a lot of elbow grease the end result is okay, but not good enough. I need to find something better to clean it really good Then I got the valve cover off and prepared it for sandblasting. Took another 17million hours to do it properly: Meanwhile I ordered some new parts...more coming in: Basically just some filters, HEKO wind deflectors, thermostat, front and rear caliper refresh kit with new clips (friend needed them so I gave him mine and he bought me new ones) Last mini project is the caliper refreshing. I actually have a second set of VTI calipers, so I just tore them apart and cleaned everything. They are actually mint condition, no seizing or any other s**t, so I will probably reuse the seals, because they are like new. Size comparison to a 0,33L can, they are gigantic Then I started doing the rears. One was seized(the sliders), and the other one was also not very good condition. I will probably need to buy new rear pistons Very gunky, not greasy at all, just some dry sh!t.
  24. Hello guys, I recently bought a MC2 VTI deck. I said "I won't do anything to it". I don't have any pictures of it from when I bought it, but it's bone stock, not in very good condition green deck. It runs, it has some problems, but nothing major. I bought it mainly because it was so cheap. Only 900€, it has 290k km. However, when I was driving it home I noticed the rear end is wobbly, so I took everything apart and got new bushings and everything: The guys that do that even sandblast and paint the little things "for free"! Then I started the assembly, but I am still missing some bolts which snapped or, I needed to cut off as everything was seized. So when bolting everything back on I used plenty of copper spray, works a treat. a bit messy but it's worth doing... OK, then I got my Meisters out, they are for 4.gen Civic, so I still don't know how low is this crap going to be, but still, one side is mounted and ready to go: Short much? Soo, this is with coilovers wound up to the limit...oh yeah, the car is still lifted Now I am still waiting for new bolts to bolt everything back on the left side and get the car on the floor to se how low is it
  25. Well ideally I don't want any stretch, I am more of a squared race tyres look, but the wheels are really nice and I think, maybe just for some shows with a bit of stretch and camber won't hurt I need to source some tires and test fit the damn thing
