    MC1 lowering

Cheers, car is now booked in for MOT on Thursday morning, hopefully it won't have too many problems as I have spent a small fortune on bushes, brakes, exhaust & tyres in the past year... Still haven't totally made my mind up whether to lower 35-40mm it with springs or to find an MG ZS 120 setup? I'm not to bothered about the improvement in handling as I only potter about 95% of the time, I would like to give it a sportier stance...

    MC1 lowering

I still haven't got round to buying anything or lowering it but have painted the grille, rear plate surround, mirrors and wheels. I have the MOT due at the end of July which I am aiming to get done before hand. All being well it will be lowered in the next few weeks...

    MC1 lowering

Progress was stumped for a while due to a seized rear caliper which was replaced along with pads. Do you think I would I get away with 1.8 MG ZS shocks with -30mm springs fitted with my 17's not rubbing like mad?

    MC1 lowering

I will keep an eye out for an MG setup I think and see how she sits. I was going to paint the wheels up anyway as they are not it the best nick and hoping that going black will hide most of the marks at a glance. Thanks for the advice, will put some pics up when its done...

Will these fit on mine? Are they any good? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CIVIC-11-95-02-20001-EJ-EK-MA-COILOVER-SUSPENSION-KIT-INCL-VTI-/221520430982?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3393a58786

Thanks for that Tom, your car sits nicely on that setup! I'm still undecided at the moment - I have seen some sets of springs for around the £130 mark. Mine isn't quite as pretty as yours, but want to try and improve her visually on a budget. Losing the arch gaps/clear side repeaters and doing away with the chrome grille and trim are the jobs coming up over the next few weeks,

    MC1 lowering

Hi All, I'm looking for some advice on lowering my deck, its sitting on 17's with 205/40's riding high so I'm after a drop of 30-40mm. I don't want to spend loads in doing this so ideally under £200. Are there any springs any of you can recommend? Will standard MG ZS shocks/springs show any difference in ride height? Would the cheap coilover kits on ebay fit my MC1 as my car is not listed. Wanted to try and get some advice before I get my wallet out....
  8. I suspect one of my rear calipers is knackered as the brakes stink after its driven, acceleration also seems to be slower. Anyway I have read on here about how bad the rear calipers are these, so I was wondering what upgrades are available? Would discs and calipers from a MG ZS 2.5 v6 fit? I have clearance as I have 17's.
  9. I will try and put a pic up in the morning. I had a go at trimming the plastic inner arch today and it has improved but still rubs very slightly on full lock. It may be down to the tyres (cheap Runway 205/40r17's) they seem to have straight sidewall, I think it may clear if the sidewalls were more curved? Have you chaps that run 17's totally removed the plastic inner trim as it leaves the belts etc. in the bottom of the passenger side of engine bay exposed.
  10. Thanks chaps. I got the wheels today and they fit fine, I just need to trim/remove a bit of plastic that catches on full lock. Big improvement in looks to the 14'' standards.
  11. Thanks for the quick reply. If my understanding is correct. ET42 would mean that the wheel would sit in towards the body of the car more 2mm more than yours so have less chance of touching wheel arch. Will it leave enough clearance on the inner side ie. suspension etc...
  12. Hi All, I have a 1999 Civic Aerodeck 1.6i ES, I need to replace 3 tyres on my standard 14'' alloys but I have found a second hand set of 17'' alloys that work out to be only slightly more in price. I believe that the PCD on these wheels 4x100 and the offset is ET42. Will these fit without needing any further modifications? There car has not been lowered but I may lower it 30mm in the future. I don't want to by them if they will rub as I have my children in the back of the car regularly. Thanks in advance.
