  1. Ah ok that makes sense. I asume the standard pcv system copes ok running that sort of power with presumably more blow by gases being FI. Is it just the pcv valve that stops the block seeing boost pressure when on boost, then off boost it goes back to seeing vacuum?

Sorry for the questions, I'm planning my build but there seems to be lots of different methods of doing it.

  2. Does it have to be fused? The battery is being mounted where the passenger seat used to be and will run straight to a battery isolation kill switch. Then through the fire wall. So wire length won't be very long.

Is 40mm2 over kill or does it not hurt it to go bigger than needed?

Also once through into the engine bay am I just connecting it straight to the wire that went on the positive battery post?

  3. The big day has come so she's been packed up and sent of to the work shop.DSC_0457.JPG.6f13ff125b86533524e3d32e95930201.JPG

It not far from my house so I can go there whenever I get time and help prepare the car. Spent the day there today, stripped out all the dash and moving things in the engine bay to make room. Next time I'm there I'll be carrying on removing all the wiring looms, once there out I can strip out all the redundant wires.

Got a little list of parts building up I need to get while the cars there which can be fitted and other bits fabricated.

The work shop is on an ex RAF base so took it for a rag down the runway before work started. Very fun with no body work and no weight on the car.DSC_0460.JPG.009a6c362833521e1da1d5d59748c636.JPG

    Another fine build! applause.gif1

    Thanks mate.

Been a few weeks since I updated so here's the latest.

Sump is back on and not leaking which is nice. Did a service while I was at it.

    Another little project....

This empty bottle was a handy shape so it went from this.. DSC_0456.JPG.f523b13cde14de54d50983d1ed4ef86e.JPG

To this. Now it's my new washer bottle. 1.5 kg lighter than the massive bottle that came out. Not a lot of weight saving but every little helps, plus it's much smaller so has made some space for a pod filter and intercooler piping for the future. IMG-20191011-WA0002.jpeg.11a9cd1342afbf1773ca5818280d3125.jpeg

Oh yeah and the car looks like this now, can you guess why?

  5. Little up date.

Sump has been leaking for a while and I had some baffled plates that have been sat in the cupboard for a few years so finally got round to sorting it out. DSC_0444.JPG.e89ae621dc85774029c8dfa9b12e966e.JPG

Sump off and cleaned up. Got a new gasket and some Honda bond for re fitting. DSC_0446.JPG.f55a9b523ea4a22014a6eadd038335d5.JPG

Baffles welded in. Just need to re paint the outside where the paint came off from the welding penetration. Won't bother painting in side as it will never get wet and is covered in oil anyway.

  6. Decided to keep the Honda badge this time but wanted less plastic so cut out either side of the H. DSC_0413.JPG.ac6ace2ccf518e76177b189c6ca9951d.JPG

All the plastic cut out and sanded ready for paint. Doing the wipers aswell as they had gone back to bare metal in places DSC_0414.JPG.ca97d501e8b92750c66fedd1bd67c1bf.JPG

Forgot to take pics of it in primer but the process was 2 coats of acid etch on the chrome and 3 of plastic primer on the rest. Finished with 4 coats of gloss black. I did the wipers in gloss black Hammerite spray as that stuff is pretty indestructible.

  7. So was washing my other car few weeks back and looked back into the garage and noticed how grubby looking the civic was. I realised iv not even washed it for about a year and the grill was covered in stone chips and the filler had cracked. One of the headlights had really fogged over aswell so though it was time for a bit of a face lift.

Pulled the headlights and grill off my spare car and set to work. DSC_0415.JPG.b352030b30b82354dd1b3e8637901a59.JPG

    Foggy and clear.

  9. The electric sun roof was really heavy and it's a lot of weight at the highest part of the car so that was a great one to remove. I blanked the hole off with a sheet of 1mm alloy rivited and glued in place which weighed next to nothing.

  10. Most of the stuff I weighed was the easy stuff, like seats, doorcards, speakers, stuff that came out easy. I pulled out two buckets worth of sound deadening but forgot to weigh that as I was so relived when I'd finished as it's a pain to remove. Once you remove to easy stuff it gets hard to remove more weight. Making new wing mirrors saved 2 kg, removing all the glass, window mechanisms, locks and cutting out the door skin saved about 10kg. Saved about 4kg removing the 5 engine mounts and replacing with 3 solid ones. I'm at the stage now where it takes a lot of effort to remove only 1 or 2 kg but do it all over the car and it adds up

Any ideas on the amount of weight removed at all please?

Not really sure at the moment, I'm removing bits all the time and haven't weighed all of it. I had the car weighed a few years ago when it was a standard whole car and it was 1220kg. I would guess from the stuff I did weigh when removed and estimating the rest I recon iv taken out about 115kg. I'll go down the scrap yard at some point and get it weighed again before the cage goes in as I imagine that will be heavy
