  1. Hi guys, thought I may as well make a thread for my little MB2 seeing as I'm here! Backstory - The car has been in the family from new. It belonged to my Great-Grandad to start with who then gave it to his son in law (my Grandad) who passed the car on to me in 2016 shortly before he passed away. I've only had my test passed for the last 14 months and so this is my first car! Therefore I'm trying to look after it the best I can and because there's so much that can be done modding wise, especially with it being the base model, it gives a lot of options. The car really hasn't done much mileage at all. I got the car on 80,000 and only sitting at just under 84,000 now. It's pretty standard, still on original steel wheels & ride height, got its fair share of scratches and slight dents but it shines up pretty well. The car has been reliable as hell for as long as I remember, so I'm going to just keep it going for as long as possible. I've really fallen in love with these MB Civic's and always had an admiration for Honda/older Civic's before this. In my ownership it has had the following repairs/slight mods with a lot more planned! - New standard exhaust back box because it completely blew through a couple months into driving it. - Full service in January this year, coolant etc last replaced in 2015 but low miles like I said - New Pioneer radio/CD player (went for CD not Bluetooth.. Yes I'm old fashioned!) - New wipers all round - New number plates - Original floor mats - VTI front lip (first thing I've ever sprayed up myself) - De-Chromed front grille (Vinyl wrapped) - Colour matched wing mirrors & door handles (One electric mirror wasn't working so took the chance to get rid of the black plastic all round) - VTI Carbon dash trim & gear stick surround - VTI Gear knob - VTI door tweeters (not wired in yet, got replacement door looms but can't unplug main connection so will have to cut into wires) - Wind deflectors - OEM mud guards/flaps fitted In the coming weeks/months things I should have done include front fog lights and something I've only seen one or two guys do, a Rover 45/MGZS boot lip spoiler. I'm just going to 3M tape this on once painted silver, because I also have a spoiler from a 1.4 sport that I need to finish painting and eventually get on. And I'm not really sure about having 2 spoilers haha! Also after a set of alloys, even the original 4x100 MB ones will do. Wouldn't mind getting a rear ARB on too eventually but need to mod/change lower control arms for that so it's a bigger job for down the line. Going to scrub away some rust and stone chip or underseal underneath & wheel arches in time for winter too. Seen some de-chromed headlights again recently and very tempted to buy some and do this myself! Thoughts and suggestions are very welcome & I'm glad to be on here! First couple pics are standard, last pic is how it looks now and one to show the test fit of the boot lip.
  2. Yes.. Sorry if I was confusing. There wasn't really a set 1-2-3 when I removed mine it was just doing whatever got it off. the inner door handle should pop out slightly when you take the screw out and slide it backwards (I think) and you'll be able to see then.
  3. I'm not 100% what it's called but the clip secures the rod to the inside of the handle where it slides through a hole to open the door. It'll be green or white (my driver's door was green, the rest white) What I did the first few times was to remove the door card starting at the bottom prying it out when everything was loose, then pull the handle piece forwards and because I couldn't detach the rod clip from that position I turned the whole door card 90 degrees and manoeuvred the handle through the cutout while it was still attached. Awkward though. The bigger door handle doesn't come off from the door card just so you know. It stays on.
  4. Once you remove the handle that you open the door with, it slides one way or the other (can't remember which) and pops out towards you, then start pulling on the door card from the bottom, the whole thing should come off. I left the handle attached, just manoeuvred the door card around and over it (but this started snapping the little clips so it's better to pop those off)
  5. Another spoiler related question: I saw an Mb2/3 in the scrappy with the spoiler missing but the screws/bolts were still there, I couldn't seem to get them out the boot lid though, they seemed stuck like there's a washer both sides. Just to confirm, if I gave them a couple good turns with a spanner/knock them through would they come out or is there a weird way to do it? Not sure if I'm just being a tool.
  6. Thanks for the reply! Some good info there which I'll use. I can see the dimples that have to be drilled through, guessing they're about 10mm or so? On the spoiler I have there's also a red guiding peg on one side and on the other side is where the wires come out, so 3 holes will have to be drilled at each side? I think I can guess where the wires have to go through now then, but where is the point where they plug in? Or did you cut into the existing wiring somehow? (Imagine it would be fiddly) Yeah the guy I got the spoiler off was local and forgot the bolts. I have a couple of bolts from a spoiler I got off eBay but that whole thing was a mess. Probably get some new.
  7. Hi I'm just wondering if anybody here has experience with fitting the OEM/standard Mb's spoiler onto one that originally didn't have one? Mb2/4 etc Got a spoiler with brake light wiring all complete etc and I'm wondering how to go about it or to bother at all. - Any tips for drilling screw holes in the boot lid for the spoiler? This is what's making me not want to do it to be honest. Scared I'll mess it up. Need the bolts too. - Is there anywhere for the brake light wiring to plug into on the MB2's? I've taken the boot interior out and looked and can't see where it would go to. Any tips/pictures etc would help too. Thanks!
  8. I think so? Not sure at all, I just know mine does (did) have the 2 button infra red type but the key fob stopped working years ago & mine's a 1.4i.
  9. So it was just a new key that you got linked up to the car? Thanks anyway, I'll check it out.
  10. Looking for some help please people, like many others the terrible Infra Red remote locking fob has stopped working for my car. I got the remote from the ex-ex owner of my car (been in the family since new) and it was totally disconnected having not been used for years. not lighting up even with new batteries, absolutely dead and I've since lost it anyway. If the opportunity was there to buy a brand new remote/fob, how easy is it to get this coded to your car's code? I imagine it will be a Honda dealership jobby, but what is it likely to set me back? Bearing in mind I will have a brand new never used remote? Thanks! (I know an aftermarket central locking system would no doubt be cheaper but there's also all the wiring involved and paying somebody to do it!)
  11. There's some cheap ones on eBay that I've read about people on here using. But I don't know how good they would be if you didn't have fog lights installed from the factory. I've been wondering for ages how to fit them as well. I don't have a clue how to wire them up to the original switch etc. That would be the ideal way to do it but maybe need an OEM loom.
  12. Ah yes I'm with you now. To be honest wouldn't have even acknowledged the first one I'd just have assumed it isn't the right one! Yeah I wouldn't buy from eBay to be honest and all of those just look a bit unreliable and tacky. I just don't know any companies that sell them really? They look like the closest ones to what I'm after. Because they're not an exact swap, are they likely to affect suspension or the wheel at all?
  13. Oh right so the ones on eBay in all the fancy colours would fit then? I just thought the bushes were all too big etc. What do you mean by fork type sorry?
  14. Hi guys, hoping you can help me with the following. I'm in need of a trailing arm bush replacing and when inspecting everything the garage has advised that maybe the lower control arm bushes could do with replacing to improve suspension/noise & clunking. They're not desperate but it seems much easier to get a whole new set of LCA's however I can't find them ANYWHERE online. The Eg/Dc2 ones don't fit I'm led to believe. My second point though, I have an Mb2 and so no rear anti roll bar, so the holes for this are none existent on the LCA's, but I've seen posts on here saying all Mb's had the same LCA's(?). I've seen a slight indent where the hole would be on one side and that's all. If I wanted to fit an ARB, would I need new LCA's from an Mb6 or MGZS etc? Thanks!
  15. For the clock bulb, I made the stupid decision of trying to reach up while the stereo was out, completely forgetting about the metal cage around it which needs removing before resigning myself to the fact I'd have to take the whole centre console out. Few weeks later I got it done. Get somebody with smaller hands to have a go..?! Otherwise the whole thing needs to come out.
  16. Looks like you have an early model with manual window/wing mirror? Don't know if it will be the same but on my MB2 I just removed the handle screws and the black trim panel style screw under the wing mirror (looks like you have already done this) then pull on the door card starting at the bottom, popping out the clips as you work your way round. Speaker cover comes off with the panel.
