Honda Civic aerodeck 1999 - automatic gearbox whining in reverse fear

1.6 automatic aerodeck
 

Car drives solid however when I put it in reverse it makes a whining sound. If the engine is cold it does the same when I put it into Drive (usually the first time I drive it for the day). Any ideas what it could be?
