ok when i bought the car there was a kenwood cd player in it... 45wx4.. and i installed a set of vibe 6x9s.. i used the cables that were wired into the rear speakers and just connected them to the new speakers...

the sound quality is s**te..... well plenty of mid and high range but there is b****r all base.. i know these speakers should really thump but im not impressed... anyone else have similar problems? i thought id ask here before i start pulling up carpets etc... thought maybe the head unit wasnt strong enough but 45x4 is good enough for big bass... any suggestions?

cheers :)

those 6x9's will be getting about 10watts per speaker is you are lucky

Also, they are not on a solid mounting place nor are they in an enclousure.

If you want bass get a sub or put the 6x9's in a box. They wont produce "big bass" mounted in the parcel shelf.

They aren't really designed for big bass anyway, they are designed to do the mids and highs.

You wont get good quality sound from them either im afraid for a few reasons, firstly the instalation as i mentioned above. Also, they are designed to run off little power and made using cheap components, this added with the fact vibe dont make any nice sounding speakers all acounts for poor quality.

Also running them in the rear drags the sound stage back, your ears are not designed to hear from behind you (think of a music concert...where are the speakers compared to the audience?). This massively affects the quality of the listening experience too
