    OEM headunit

you will need to remove the headunit and try to follow the earth cable. This will be black or brown

    OEM headunit

that is normaly a sign of a poor earth in an aftermarket setup. Maybe an idea to re do the earth for the headunit
  3. ive just fitted Falken 914's to my octavia. Good tyres in all weather, they do slip a bit when flooring it but they are trying to cope with 260ft/lb torque lol Uniroyal Rainsport 2's are very good vfm and great all rounders. Avon dont make the ZV range anymore so if you find any they will be old stock. Ive got ZV5's on my works van and they are ok, not as good as the Bridgestones which were on there out the factory though
  4. they are also usless. I tried them with hid bulbs in them and they were usless

    OEM headunit

    they should be yea.
  6. give it a go, i bet there are load of people who would want to see how it comes out

    OEM headunit

you need to use the correct keys for the headunit
  8. If you ran 2 gt4's youd have 750wrms to give them as the amp will be run at 2ohm rather than 4ohm If you ran a set of components with your amp bridged rather than with 6x9s behind you it will sound so much better
  9. if you want a different sound change the box first before changing amps/subs etc You are giving your 250wrms sub 500wrms so dont be silly with the gain and the volume control on your headunit. Your 4 channel amp does 4x60wrms so look for 60wrms speakers OR (and this would be my choise) ditch the 6x9 and bridge the amp so you have about 2x200wrms
  10. which jbl amp is it? If you are on a budget the low end Hertz kit is good and very well rated. The effort involved in making a baffle to fit 6.5" speakers is very little. You can get the wood cheap too by going to the cutting saw at B&Q and buying off cuts for pence.
  11. it will take about 20 minutes of fabrication to fit 6.5" speakers in the doors so very little effort. The oem speakers are 6" in a plastic baffle so you'd need to buy a plastic baffle (not recommended as they are rubbish) Tweeter size. I fitted 1" CDT tweeters. This is the component kit I had in my old VTI-S http://www.cdtaudio.com/main_series/hd/hd62.htm The oem tweeter is held in place using a bit of brass which is screwed in. Any tweeter of upto 1" will fit with no modification
  12. there is a cheap part which you could try. The fuel pump relay. Its on the drivers side in the dash, pretty easy to get to once you get in the footwell. If this is on its way out it could cause the fuel pump to stop working and no fuel = engine cuts out

    OEM headunit

first things first. Check the settings that its not set to mute someware. then take the headunit out and check the conditions of the cables. You will have red, yellow, and a few others which are the power. There will also be a bunch of coloured cables which are speaker cables which you can check to make sure they are connected. It sounds like the problem is at the headunit end as its very unlikely all the speakers are unplugged
  14. 2000 special edition? Nice looker though. only thing "special" is the exhaust which doesnt fit
  15. thats what the guy did who bought my vti-s. It was up for 1650 but i wanted 1500. He was traveling from IOW so had to pay for ferry etc. So I said I wanted 1500 (wouldnt have normaly done this). He turned up, was smitten with it and I let it go for £1450. It cost him a fortune to get the car, fuel for the civic £60, Ferry for the civic £50, ferry for his mates car £40 and fuel for his mates car. Anyone on isle of wight see an R plate vti-s, it was probably mine
  16. looking at their website they seem to be a mx5 "specialist". The civic is the cheapest car they have by quite a bit so my guess is its a part ex. Id be willing to put money on that car only oweing them about 1k, if that. So that is a huge mark up. If you cant find anything else close by to look at i'd ring him, say you'll give them what its worth (£1200 MAX!, nothing more) and see what they say. Its a long way to go if its the only car you are going to see
  17. i very much doubt he will have someone at 8.15. Who goes looking at cars that early?! It might have 12 service stamps but if it did i'd certainly put pictures of it on the advert. There are no engine pics, no evidence its got all its tools with the spare wheel, nice evidence of having all 4 keys (red, green and 2 black). Just because its had a load of back to black put on it and is low mileage (5000 a year) does not mean its perfect and for that money i'd want it like its just out the showroom At the mileage it should have had the cambelt done, if not it needs doing (£300 depending where you go). The headunit looks really odd, I dont think its oem as honda used all pioneer stuff then im sure.
  18. remember, fitting the oil filter should only be hand tight
  19. well, if you give him 1300 you've been had What age is it? They are worth less than 1k, you can get the EP civics for a grand nowadays. Is it this civic? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ogcode=flp
  20. with it being such a long trip for you it does make it harder for you to be more ruthless. I'd say, offer him 1300 and say take it or leave it. The trip wont make a difference to hime, private seller it might (chap drove from isle of wight so i let him have £50 off the price for my vti-s). What car is it anyway? 1600 is VTI-S money and thats good condition VTI-S with low miles
  21. the kick isnt that hard in these engines. If you want a big kick you want an ek4 or ek9
  22. very interesting. there's a chap on talk audio fitting an Evo 7 lump in a mk6 fiesta atm
  23. Giving it a service is a good start. You should get 70 in 2nd just over 100 in 3rd all day long. In theory the gear box will do 160 If it feels restricted maybe the auto choke is playing up? I had a similar feeling in a nova i had years ago but that was because it had a manual choke and i didnt know how to use it lol
  24. optima yellow tops are not very good anymore, nothing like what they used to be like. Remember you MUST have a sealed battery. GEL/AGM will be your best bet. Oddessy are very good along with Shuriken. XS Power are fantastic but expensive. I'd certainly go for 0awg. Its not heavy and wont slow you down. It will fit no problems and if its overkill then thats good.
