night_demon
Hi guys, Im thinking About replacing my D16B2 Engine with a B18C4 Engine. Only thing im not sure about is the gearbox.I have a auto and i dont want to put a manual in because it would be too much hastle. What Autobox would go with a B18C4 Engine? i could do with some advice.Nick
King
I know that some of the EK4 SiR's (VTi) came with an autobox, as they run the simillar B-series engine (B16A2). As the gearboxes are interchangeable between all the B-series engines (S4C,S9B,S80,Y21) then in theory the 'box found in the auto SiR's would work. Gav_ek4
b series autoboxes are fairly rare mateyou will need an auto specific engine and dash lash loom, auto specific ecu and auto specific shafts and linkagesnot a conversion to be taken lightly
johngreen537
The most common one is on a CRX Del Sol import.Word of warning though.... Those old 4 speed auto boxes, are absolute and utter dog &*£*!You cannot keep VTEC engaged, even on a B16 engine, let alone a B18C4.
night_demon
So i guess its pritty hard to get it right. How hard would it be to convert to manual?
johngreen537
No harder really than engine conversion mate. You'd have to replace the dash loom, as well as the engine loom, but you'd need to do that anyway. So in all, extra dash loom

johngreen537
It never realy worked well! Even the H22 auto's in the preludes were hopeless compared to the manuals!
night_demon
the auto that i have is the only decent auto i have ever driven in my life, my mum has a auto licence alone with my sister so i have driven a few, theres nothing like beating a honda 3 door on the gear changes with the kickdown and the split second gear changes lol. The new plan is to buy a new honda i think, im looking at the same model of car but manual. I think i found one for a decent price so i might be getting that one and doing it up and using the auto as a donnor car, because i just put new suspention shocks and springs on it last year, plus it has the bodykit and induction kit and other mods that i can just swap over. ill keep you posted on what happens Nick
