Has anyone done the valve stem seals with the head still on?

The heads are really easy to get off so you may as well take it off and do the head gasket and timing belt at the same time and you can have a look at the bores to see if the rings need changing . I can get a head off in just over half an hour . Rich.

cheers for the info chers,

it smokes when accelerating hard, or if stationary when you rev it.

the cambelt and pump were done only 700 miles ago. but make just take the head off.

do i have to remove the valves and regrind them in?

hoping its not rings, can they be done from head off at all? or is it sump and crank out??

cheers jamie

i think mine may be going tell me what you think ??

i drove too castle combe for the rally car day on sat ( brill day ) the car behaved fine no oil consumption its 180miles there. then on way back just before the M6 i was stopping at the motorway services so i was about to slow down but had to boot it to about 5500 so in vetec but not too high i had been running at 4000rpm most of the time and load of blue smoke out exhaust so i gave a second blip bit more but not as much . so when i stopped i checked to see if oil on the back of car or oil when reved cloth over exhaust and nothing and same when i looked in mirror at night but i can smell oil and i have for a few weeks or some thing when going to a stop with window open at a junction etc.

how hard are they to do if it is

the car has done 111000 miles
