I have always wondered this, and hoped someone who has had a custom exhaust fabricated from the like of Powerflow, could shed some light.

They always say they can make a system to look and sound how you want it. I wondered how you describe the sound etc? Is it an idea to take some videos on a phone or somehting so they can hear the sound you want, or do they have sample sound files etc?

Ah ok, that would be the kind of sound I would be looking for. SO guess its just a case of describing it.

I am considering an exhaust made by A.A.S exhausts in Newcastle, there work has some good things said about, and looks great too. Also some good videos on youtube.

I have a custom back box DNX rolled tip that sounds a bit like a scooby but theres many factors to take in when choosing like the bore of pipe you want 2" 2.25" 2.5" so on also if you fitting a 4 branch and decat what size outlets will it have same sizes again when we bought my brothers VTI-s his car had a 2.25" manifold and decat with a a 3" bore cat back mongoose system because of this combination his back box tone was crap so we swapped it out for a 2.5" japspeed and Tegiwa decat 2.5" and brought it all to life.

just make sure you go somewhere with a good reputation if they any good they will know the score as said previous every engine has its own sound good luck finding the right one and take some vids when its on.

Thanks for the advice.

I was thinking of a 2.5" catback, with a 3.5" round rolled in tailpipe.

Will be keeping the cat, as I use this as my daily driver, and for hopefully frequent trips back to the northeast, so cant have anything that may do my head in lol

PAAAAAA..PAAAAAAAA.PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA......

its a thrill to have a exhaust on a friday night but as a daily driver its a bit annoying...

the neighbours know when your out and coming home. the police hear you from a mile way. worst of all its a sign saying to the police... pull me over. a friend has a fujibutso or what ever its called on his DC2. a silent performer. hopefully my next choice to have custom fitted on my mb6.

you do pay the money for these branded products but they do know we live civilised lives as-well.... i read an article somewhere, wish i could quote the name but it reads something like " the materials for a custom exhaust are readily available, however to produce a quiet performance exhaust requires much research and the use of expensive materials to reduce the sound output".

Like the quote dropping knowledge bombs on us weetec?

you say you'll keep the cat (quite restrictive) maybe a sports Cat?

does make a massive difference in flow when you get the standard back box off and a less restrictive one on currently i still have the standard centre pipe on as im saving for a long life system but until then my 2.25" system doing well, i found with the bigger bores you lose alot of back pressure think my brother would agree but does flow nice.
