jalesi2001
Hi guys, what u rekon about changing our tyre sizes?I know some peeps have done it, i looked on ebay for tyre prices, we have 195/55 VR15, if you want TOYO's, thats about £180 for 4, if you change them to 195/50 VR15, you can get 4, for £123!! A fair saving, and it would only decrease the sidewall height slightly, making your speedo out by less than 1mph i rekon. I cant remember the exact calculation, but i think it would put the speedo out by about 2-3%, which on a 140mph speedo, will work out at less that 1 MPH!! So has anyone done it, and if so, did they notice any difference, for better or worse??Stupid comment alert: Also, as the sidewalls will be slightly smaller, does it look any better!! Let us know your experiences and comments guys!!
stoocake
I've run 195/50/15 and there is a very modest difference in accelaration. You can't calculate speedo innacuracy as an absolute figure, it'll be a percentage, but it'll only be a few % out. At 30mph there won't me much in it, but at 70mph you'll be 3-5mph out or so (speedo will read higher than your actual speed).http://www.alloywheels.com/tyrecalc.asp
tontvti
You can notice the car sitting slightly lowerI do use abit more fuel now because it sits just in vtec when I cruise to work,as for the speed difference, before I changed tyre size the speedo was spot on compared to the GPS now itsI decided to check by how much the speedo was off today with the 50 profile tyres.Speedo ... GPS35 .........3360 .........56 I changed down to 50s because so much cheaper for performance tyres DDunoo what I'll do if I get a puncture, my spare is a
