Pcv valve...

Hi folks, iv noticed my mb6 has started using a fair amount of oil recently :( iv read it can be worn piston rings, valve stem seals but have also read tht a blocked pcv valve can cause oil consumption. I'd like to clean and inspect the valve an was wondering if anyone has done one before? What's involved? Any advice would be much appreciated. I'm going to try get hold of a compression tester to see how compression is. Valve stem seals don't seem to expensive and I'd rather try and avoid having to take the head off so want to try the basics first.

Cheers

I would disconnect and remove the valve and check it can open freely. Should be a one way valve.

Clean with some carb cleaner or brake cleaner.

If it's blocked I guess pressure would build up and force oil past the rings or something :)
