  1. If thats what they cost if you wish to fix the problem you will have to pay it , i would see if you can get one from a local breaker i know you said they said they will snap but they may manage to get one out saving you some good money.

Its the 1/4 that looks well off colour to . no polish is going to change the colour its the fact to parts of the car have been painted at differant time . even when you use a colour code the list shades .ie angle light . dark shape and so on if the colour change slightly over its life of production or is a pig to get a colour match i have seen upwards of 10 shades so if someone has picked the wrong one when refinishing a panel or the panels are painted at differant time in the factory they can and more than likely will be differant.

You will never match silver edge to edge mate its a nightmare , to get it 100% you will have to paint the door you have brought the door next to it and the 1/4 panel , this is called blending even then silvers base coat seem to go cloudy and the more paint you put on the darker the silver will get.
