  1. The other Phil is in a better position to answer than me, (not done an mot test since 2013), but from what I remember it may not even be advised on. I think it's only abs and Srs lamps that can fail an mot test.

  2. To be honest, the damage has already been done, the grease has gotten out, and dirt has gotten in, it'll only be a matter of time before it starts knocking, so either replace the C.V. Joint or replace the shaft. J+R do shafts for 35 quid so you can't go wrong with them.

  3. Remind us what you have done so far.

Hondas don't suffer from escaping GGs over the years as much as others.

@philgor and my self both have aerodeck VTIs and even though he has 80/90 thousand more miles on it there is barley a wheel lenght in a drag race!

a couple of years ago, myself @Krzys and @Mr Brown went up to scotland, on one of our epic one day trips...

anyway, we were leaving ferrybridge services when one thing led to another, and i was pipped to post by mr brown.... krzys wasn't far behind...

  4. *blows dust of the thread*

The MOT passed without any issues. The replacement boot was just the ticket.

I cleared out the underneath of the scuttle panel with a friend. The amount of decaying material was gross. A thick goop blocking the drain. Managed to nip my nimble fingers in and clear it out.

Removed the front mud flaps to clear the leaves behind those too. No issues with draining now. I used concentrate screen wash to see if there were any leaks and where exactly water was going. Much easier to track bright blue liquid.

Winter's round the corner so I have my trusty bag of silica gel in the centre console to soak up moisture. No steaming up just yet!

I have one issue though. I've noticed my brake lights are staying on sometimes when I release the pedal. It seems very sensitive. The slightlest pedal movement will turn the lights on. Is the switch adjustable on these cars?

And I'm about to get two more front tyres. I bought Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 at the beginning of the year and they're almost at the legal limit in just 10,000 miles....

Forgot to add, my insurance renewal is due in two weeks. GoCompare quotes were £1000-1500 which were not financially sane.

My Brentacre renewal came in at £800.

I gave Greenlight a call and they quoted me just £499.

Worth hitting them up if anyone is due a renewal

Nice to hear the mot pass, silica gel? Thats a new one on me, I take it, it works well?, as for insurance, did you give sky or Adrian flux a ring, as they do give a discount for civic5 members.

  5. Got my signs for my business made up and they are magnetic so can go on any car but will be mainly driving this in winter so here's a pic and also will be putting the winter steels back on very soon!

Looks good! I'll be putting my all seasons back on in the next couple of weeks, just waiting for the temperature to drop below 10c to make the most of them..

  6. Bit of an update, the week started with the NSF brake smoking rather well, que one siezed caliper, £60 for a reconditioned one and when I returned the knackered one, I got £13 back. Well happy.

Night time driving has also become a lot easier now as well...

There bloody bright, on the bright side (see what I did there?) people seem to drop to dipped beam a lot quicker now....

And I put the car in for mot today, it passed, not bad for 15 years old and 195500 miles..and it's done 16500 miles since its last mot...

  7. had them on now for about 200 miles, and impressions are good, both dry and wet, forgot to mention that they are XL rated aswell, they ride a lot softer than the yokohama's as well.
