  3. Whilst out today i noticed some notchiness to the steering. As you turn the wheel it feels as if you are turning a clicking dial, with each notch evenly spaced. Steering itself is fine, not vague and turns from lock to lock withno problem. Checked ps fluid level and its fine. Ps pulley looks fine, no slack that i can see. Any ideas? I'm assuming the pump is on thw way out and hoping the rack isnt worn out... Car has only covered 54k.

  5. Got to agree with this, I love my mb6 to bits, but even my mint low mile example is a cheap motor. doubling what I paid for to go turbo, then having to upgrade other parts so it handles the power competantly and you're swiftly into the money for a fundamentally better car. I'm not knocking people who put the money and effort into building something special, i wish i had their ability to do so, but you have to be totally committed to see it through and not end up as a half-finished project on ebay. Still, best of luck to you if you do it, I'll follow your project thread religiously if you do!

  7. Glad it went to a good home, could see the effort you'd put into it. Becoming a parent certainly changes your perspective on your hobbies doesn't it. still that said I used to have an EK4 and the MB is doesn't feel like a compromise at all - just a lot harder to find aftmarket bits for, which considering how poor having kids makes you, is probably a good thing!

  9. Looks nice and clean, only recently got myself an MB6, ironically having already done the sensible family car thing when my son was born. Short story, got sick of it and we use the wifes car for family trips (no ISOFIX in my Accord) so decided to have a fast Civic again. I watched your EM1 sale thread and must say was shocked that you had such hassle selling such a good example. Alas I still had to maintain some semblance of practicality so the MB is perfect for me, but were I a single man I'd have snapped up your coupe without a second thought.

  11. Kudos to you for doing all that work yourself to keep it running. Takes me a month of Sundays to do even the simplest jobs!

  13. To do list: Clean engine bay. Repaint rocker cover. Remove arch strips, clean arches out, waxoyl and refit. Remove and refit engine splash guard - looks like it's been caught on a kerb at some point. Remove resonator. JDM rear lights. MGZS 180 suspension. VTi-S sideskirts and rear lip.

  15. So this will be my project thread for my Pirates Black MB6. You can expect slow progress, daft questions and roofbars (yep, I'm a cyclist). Me: 30-something, married, kids, mortgage, no money. Always loved my jap cars, really missed my old EK4 when I sold it and after a spell with a sensible Accord couldn't stand anymore and had to have another quick Honda. The car: 1998 Pirates Black VTi 53k with history No mods Great paint! When this appeared for sale I just couldn't resist, after a few messages with the seller it was down to the bank to get the money out and then a family road trip that weekend to buy it. Queue a 200 mile round trip to Suffolk. How it begins: The plan: Keep it clean, fit some subtle well thought out mods, drive it and service it. Comments and suggestions welcome!

  17. I want to do some added immobilising to my MB6 for occasions where I have to leave it somewhere less savoury. What fuse do I pull to disable the fuel pump? Is it number 18 - PGM-FI main relay?
  18. I imagine those silica gel packs you get in packaging would prob do the trick as well.
  19. I tell you what, a lot of the characteristics are the same, I love it! You'll notice with the LSD that the front tucks in better into the corners! Though in standard form she does roll a fair bit but because at the time I went from an X-Trail to the MB6 it took me a while to notice! 2nd gear is a bitch, find yourself about 500rpm out of VTEC when giving it beans but I have a plan for that instead of a VTEC controller or replacing the gearbox but that's long term stuff! The MB is still quite light and still upsets the bigger cars like the EK, engine note is the same! Love it! D Yeah the presence of the LSD is a def plus, driven an ITR and the way that bit into corners on power was excellent. I'm coming from a CL6 Accord, which to be fair is a pretty sharp drive for a car of it's size, but it's just a bit dull. Out of interest, was yours advertised on Autotrader? I recall seeing one up with stupidly low mileage and thought "that must be dodgy". Looks like I was wrong if yours is that same one! Prime example of a mint car, shame those knuckle-dragging primates vandalized it.
  20. Great build up (not sure about the stickers though - sorry!) Noticed you mention in you first post you used to have an EK4. How do you find the MB compares? Im off to view one this weekend, and having also prev owned an EK4 Im expecting the MB to feel a bit wobbly. Excited to be back in a car with a b series under the hood either way!
