The lines that were scratched seem to line up but the cam sensor is cracked and could be bust as it's showing a code for that and the srs light stays on. I was offered 500 quid and a lupo for it at the side of the road haha... No chance, I don't want to give up with it, I do really like it. Have someone coming down Wednesday with an oem b18 dizzy, fingers crossed. Would it run until I got to a garage to get the timing sorted do you think?
-
No it runs but runs lumpy :/ gutted I have work for the next for days, but I have a dude coming down with a dizzy and a de-immobilised ecu for me so hopefully it will be running right next week. Hate not having a car
-
Well I have life, I stripped dizzy down, took off the icm and found a bit of oil in the dizzy, cleaned out, and it fired up but now it's throwing a code 9 at me which is cid. May need replacing as it was cracked but never shown this problem before, but like I said, it's running just don't trust it yet haha. Thanks for all help guys, really appreciate it. But keep the help coming haha

Cheers gel, when the aa came out he did a lot of checks, must have been there a good 40 mins until he decided nothing can be done there. I'm listed on funds atm. So I was gonna try ecu as it was the cheaper option. Then hopefully next month I was going to take it to an auto election and get it all double checked whether it was cutting out or not. I'm going to call round but can't get car to then atm. And I'm in work this weekend. Aa said it's possible a bad earth on the dizzy wiring. But autodata said possible ecu... Which he didn't like the way it's said "possible" :/ so thought I'd try a de-imobilised one.

Cheers guys, I guy give me a shout last night on Facebook, he has an ecu de-immobilised and asked for 45 quid. Can collect from burton-on-trrnt later or get it posted out, so I'm going to double check it's an ecu issue and replace, fingers crossed lol. There's just no spark... I'm getting fuel. Krzys I can see why you were head scratching a lot lol. Someone offered me 500 and their lupo on the side of the road haha...... Should I have accepted?
-
But he also said it could be the earth :/ just no spark. I will get it sorted, day of cleaning tomorrow lol
-
Yeah, he didn't have a clue. The aa have been out checked as much wiring as he could and it's a suspected ecu problem. But he's not 100%. That's what autodata is telling him. Sooooo if anyone knows of and ecu for my mb6 just holla haha. Hopefully one turns up
-
Well one think I have checked was the spark and don't seem to be getting one :/ waiting for the recovery truck now, 6 hours I've been here trying to repair this thing with limited tools. I'll do my upmost to sort it as I love the car. Krzys was it doing this when you sold it or was it running OK do you know?
-
Yeah, I thought that.... But didn't want to fork out straight after buying it :/ are auto elecs expensive?
-
Hopefully someone does know because I have a strong feeling it's that, after I bought it I read krzys build thread and was chuffed yet gutted at the same time. The cars perfect apart from this as it's been two hours in the boiling sun waiting to be rescued.
-
Bought my vti-s from Birmingham... The one krzys used to own and it's died on me three times. For some reason it just cuts out, stays at 3k rpm but then won't start, wish someone can give me the answer to sorting this otherwise it's up for sale tonight. I'm pondering around the immobiliser area, but been told it could be timing (too intermittent) fuel or spark issue. But overall I'm starting to hate this car.... Please help me
-
Yeah me too budy, it does drive OK, just need to sort certain stuff out myself now
-
I'll make sure that's on the list then, get some prices, going to get tracking and stuff done in the morning. At least I found the previous previous owner
-
Ah cool, I'd prefer to be able to do my own thing though I'll be doing some work as soon as funding and repairs get done and I might start a build thread myself
-
Yeah love a road trip but bit weary of the mb6 now lol. Just out of curiosity dude, how much did you take off this car because there's not a lot here haha, I'm gonna get a new rocker cover, leads and hopefully some ITR cams after the clutch is done, gears could be smother too. I feel like I but a good car but on the other hand I wish this middle man wasn't involved because I don't know what he's done :/
-
I didn't think so mate, the brackets are made from cut outs of tin haha... Not safe, so will be picking vti-s seats back in that I have got in the shed. My kids live in Cambridge so I go there, pick them up, they stay at mine for the night, I drop them off haha... And drive back. I'm from North Wales so it's a fair drive. I'm still reading through the post now to see what you didn't do that might need doing. Wish I could have bought it off you haha. Still great car though.
-
I'm just looking through it now, I'm guessing you spent a lot of time on this car lol, and it's my first by series, but I need to do a 700 mile round trip in two weeks so need it reliable. :/ I don't know how honest he was either, did you have the ep3 seats in it too?
-
You man, at least I can get some history now haha. Well the clutch definitely hasn't been replaced, and he said distributors been replaced, I'm quite worried now though haha. Paint rubs off the rocker too. What do you think I should do, could timing be out?
-
Could the timing cause that do you think? I'll get it checked out Wednesday I just don't want to blow the fecker up straight away you see haha
-
I was told it was a forum mods old mb. Yeah T209 MMJ good guess haha. It's had a dizzy on there, looks really new. I'll plug it in and see if any codes come up for lambda or anything I'll have a search for that clutch, really needs one, I was worried box was knackered at first lol.
-
Yeah I did stutter before cutting out all together, I was in the middle of Wales with no signal so was lucky it started up again lol. Apparently it had new dizzy and leads and service but I think it might have been a lie due to the bolts snapping on the plug covers :/
-
I took my vti-s out for a drive and It seemed to just cut out off the power, stayed at 3krpm but wouldn't accelerate, started and drove fine a while later. Anyone have an idea what this could be? I know it needs a clutch and it does slip sometimes but can't see that be that surely. There was a plug under the dizzy caked in oil so don't know whether that caused it. Thanks in advance
-
I finally God a pretty decent vti-s, pretty stock, no exhaust or intake system, came with usdm lights, mtec grooved discs, brembo pads and branded hoses, got it pretty cheap, just needs a clutch..... But it did loose all power yester day so if anyone could help me out on that one it would be great lol. BTW I'm using mobile and don't think I can upload pics.
-
Thanks guys. Travelings not an issue for me I just hope I can find a fairly decent one. What sorta of price would you pay for a clean one or roughly 100k miles?
-
I have noticed unicyclingtom, I'm probably going to end up with a normal vti... But even then I'm sure I'm going to be happy I've only found two for sale and one is on 180k mileage
