Turbo B18C4 Fuel Pump Prime Problem

Question

Hi all just after some advice as I’ve run out of ideas with the issue with my car,

My Aerodeck with a B18C4 is running a T3/4 turbo, 550cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, skunk 2 intake and throttle body. P28 chipped ECU, tuned by romain. Always run on 98 octane, Been running perfect for 8 years with no issues what so ever.

Originally my dads car which I now own, he started having issues when the car was left for a few days or more, the fuel pump wouldn’t prime when the ignition was turned on, the green key light would appear and go off after two secs even though the pump didn’t make a sound.

After a few goes of turning the ignition on and off it would prime and start, it eventually got worse and worse so he got the car checked by a auto electrician and said replace the main relay, which he did. We also replaced the fuel filter, also replaced the injectors for brand new RC 550cc same as before. Still no difference, we then changed the battery as the old one was 8+ years old, still no difference, we checked all earths and all was good.

What was weird was we wiggled the battery leads, with the ignition on and the pump would prime and it sometimes used to make it work. But we also had the same thing happen when we tapped the bottom of the fuel tank thinking the fuel pimp was sticking. But some days it would just prime after leaving the ignition on for a minute or so. If the car is used every day it’s fine but anything longer we had issues.

Now the car is struggling to prime everyday and now misfires under load. I’m going to fit a fuel pump and hope that may solve it. But I’m stuck for ideas what else to check.

Any help would be appreciated.

Would have a guess that the wires and connectors are old and needs better thicker gauge wire near pump, they get hot with hard use and get a volt drop, heat up and melt, happens on other Honda with upgraded pumps and get a upgraded harness kit.

Have a look before opening the new pump box so you can send it back =£s saved
