G Unit
fan belts , possibly worn and slipping on the pully hense the squeal noise just replace with a new belt fairly simple and not expensive
jalesi2001
If it carries on after the engine is turned off, then it probably aint the belts?!

Guest VTI-S
If it happens when you're parking, sounds like it could be power-steering related? eg Belt?Try dry-steering with engine just idling at 800rpm. does the noise come then? What about dry-steering with engine revving a bit faster?May be a belt tensioner needs replacing, that resonates at low frequency when the engine is dying?Otherwise, get someone to stand next to engine with bonnet lifted. Switch off the engine and try to pinpoint where the sound comes from. Use a screwdriver next to your ear as a stethoscope if it's not obvious where the sound originates. Let us know what you find.
