On the drive shaft there is a castlelated type ring for the abs these corrode and break causing a bigger gap so the abs gets confused and starts kicking back it can also create a hard pedal.

If the servo was faulty it would cause a hard pedal with poor brake effort

If pedal goes to the floor with poor pedal means a leak some where if no leaks visible the on could be master cylinder internal seal s split and allowing fluid to go past so poor pressure =poor pedal on the floor we had this on a corsa last week!!

Can do servo and cylinder 25 plus postage

nope ABS ring is fine.. so before I start on the car with the brake, shall I just change the brake cylinder or need to change both (servo and cylinder)... i am not sure how hard is this to do...hmm time to consult the trusty Haynes manual...

I would start with the cylinder as if it was the servo the brake go rock hard most of the time . Rich.
