mrwall
is it not a surge when you turn off the ignition?is it wired straight to the battery?is it fuse protected?the earth could be at fault, where is it earthed?found a link here
Nemesis
Hi,Yes the red wire from the sub is connected to the battery and the earth wire is connected to the rear headlight screw/bolt.
johngreen537
It'll be a power surge mate.Ryan is the man for this question though
ryan..
its very hard to find the source of these problems. Most of the time it is poor earths on the amp or headunit One trick is to coil some wire around the RCA's and earth them on the chassis of the headunit. A friend did this recently and it stopped it. Also try a different set of rca's or even a different headunit? Also, when wiring your amp up make sure you wire the earth then positive (attaching at the amp end first) then remote. Turn it on and if it turns on then attach the rca's. This is a way to check your earth as if its no good it will use the rca's and damage the headunit
mrwall
In that Link it says Pioneer head units are prone to this, is yours Poineer?
ryan..
all headunits do it, not just pioneer. 99% of the time its user error causing the unit to fail
