belfastlad123 Posted October 21, 2011 Share Posted October 21, 2011 my car failed mot on excessive travel of the foot brake. it dosent brake to the pedal is about half way down.when my mate got it up on the ramp i had a wheel cylinder leaking. so i got new cylinders and shoes and he put new brake pipes in.bled them twice to be sure.failed today again on excessive. what should i do next master cylinder ?? noodels Posted October 22, 2011 Share Posted October 22, 2011 adjust them by hand dont rely on automatic adjusters they are crapo,turn the piston adjuster with screwdriver until drum after removing excess lip of the drum with a grinder.let back handbrake adjusterto do the above.once done retighten the hand brake. civicturbo79 Posted October 22, 2011 Share Posted October 22, 2011 Sounds like you need to adjust the rear brake shoes if the have play in them you have to take that play up with the foot brake this maybe the course of the excess travel in your foot brake .
