Didjeridave
Been replacing my DC2 rack gaiters this evening & tried for the past hour and a half to remove the nuts on the tie rod ends. Completely stuck, had the WD40, blow torch & of course the biggest hammer - just can't get enough grip on the rod to get enough torque on the nuts. It's a pre96 rack, so it wouldn't hurt to just sod it & replace the things - eBay ones are £26 a pair - anyone know if they're any good/to be avoided? Didjeridave
Noo, the nuts that secure the tie rod with the track rod. I've replaced the front arb links with M12 bolts instead of the M8 spindly rubbish stock-fitted. Replacing that many suspension components that I reckon it'd be daft not to replace the tie rods, it's insignificant in the cost of everything else at the moment! Just hate buying crap & not seen any 'upgrade' tie rod ends.
noodels
stillsons if the nut is fooked then,or hacksaw down the nut and try then to do it up and it will split. new nuts will be needed :0) strange though as you have heated them try oil and heatput the oil on when red hot and leave for a while..it penetrates better than wd40
Didjeridave
Hmm, might try that, although looking at one of the rods, I've managed to bend it with all the wrenching it about New pair methinks!
