Idling Issue?

Hello again!

When I come to a stand at a set of lights, handbrake on and in neutral, my Civic initially idles at about 1500rpm, then drops to just over 1000. If I'm stopped long enough it'll go to normal 800. Am I making a big deal out of nowt or is there something to check?

Ta very much!

Might be worth cleaning your idle control valve. My Dad had this on his DC5, especially if the car wasn't used for a week.

I was about to get a new thermostat, however I think it might just be overcooling in my case. After some experimentation, pootling around town it gets up to temp fine and the revs do drop down when on idle. But a sustained cruise at speed seems to be ramming so much air through the rad that the temp is dropping too far and as soon as you come to a halt the autochoke is back on again.

Might trial blocking off the rad as others have had some success.
