I want to replace my gear knob but which will fit :S

Hey guys, i want to change my gear knob, i've already painted the lines and numbers and it looks good, but i want a completely different gear knob, i've seen some on fleabay of sporty looks like blue and silver leather etc, but i want the cheapest i can find, like under 7 quid, im not sure about the fitting etc, i've seen loads but there just screw ons, will 'universal' ones screw right onto my mb3? Thanks

Nearly all universal types will fit (apart from lift-reverse). Most do away with the screw and push on then tighten with grub screws on the shaft. Most decent ones will come with two or three inserts for different diameter shafts.

Get one that' screws on properly as I found the ones with grub screws are pants for example you are at the lights ready to race lights turn green go hit vtec put in second then oh sh1t my gear knob has come off

Yeah the grub screw method might depend on the quality of the knob. I'm using a Momo Gara- no chance of it coming loose once its stabbed itself onto the shaft and the screws dont vibrate off. Cheaper copies might not be as effective, not sure. I had a fairly cheap alloy screw on type with a nylon insert and to be fair it stayed put- I just changed it because alloy knobs are really cold in the middle of winter!
