weetec
aaaaaaayyup, any help with rewiring the heated mirrors to a switch so i can manually switch them on or off. they come on all the time and in the summer they get really hot and you get a burning smell. i went to my local scrap yard and found a civic 1.6sr which had the manual switch next to the head light adjust button, when i tried to remove it so i could use it in mine, it was hard wired,as in feed in and wire to each mirror. i did think of going through the supplying fuse but cant find fuse for the mirrors. any help? There is probably some kind of timer or thermostate that should deactivate the heating element after a few minutes - it sounds like a malfunction. Probably would be easier sorting that than trying to fit a manual switch. If you really do want to wire up the switch, all you will have to do is cut the wire feeding the power to the mirrors, and solder the switch in series to the heating element. yakeen
Happy New Year to everybody, sorry for my english, I am from Bulgaria. I post my question here, if it is not right I can move it on a separate topic.Did somebody of you knows if heated mirrors are factory available on M's? I would love to have pair of these here during the winter... Also I am curious where is the switch to turn them on/off. Thank you.
civicturbo79
All mb6 1.8 vti had heated mirrors my friend . There is no switch as the are on all of the time once the car is running . The best way , cheapest way of getting a pair would be to go second hand . if your car does not have the wiring for the heated mirror . they are only and + and - wire so you could wire up a switch easy . yakeen
Thanks Rich, you are right, I found out that the + cable comes from fuse N13 located in Under the dash fuse relay box, so actually the wiring is quite simple. I am wondering if I can buy a heated glass from ebay and just fit it to my regular (not heated) mirrors?
civicturbo79
I can not see any reason why not as you have to add the wires anyway give it a go and let us know how you get on . Rich.
matej
hmm...I never noticed my mirrors are heated on my mb6 (the second mb6 I own). I need to test it while it is winter if mine really works or not.
