vtec2011 Posted October 9, 2012 Share Posted October 9, 2012 Hi there.. Quite recently I start hearing this annoying noise when taping the accelerator pedal. Its also sounds like something is slack, making a sort of scraping noise. It only does it if the car is juddering (judders when its cold) or when pulling away from stand still. I think its either the inner drive shafts or the differential but not really sure. A couple months ago I have replaced the gearbox for a D16 gearbox, maybe its something to do with that? levi Posted October 10, 2012 Share Posted October 10, 2012 I have a squeaky noise when i accelerate too! Im almost sure mine is a belt, but they are all pretty tight and in seemingly good condition. Check your belts before you start playing with drivetrain i guess.. Mainly the alternator belt but your power steering etc could also be an issue. Get your head in the engine bay and have a listen to different parts and see if you can locate a noise with the car parked and engine idling. I even fitted a new one on and it still speaks.. I have found out what the noise is which is the diff. I think its knackered because there is a lot of play in both of the driveshafts.
