the MA was the pre facelift model of the car, it was only available for a few year's, and only lasted to 1996/7 when the MB was launched.

the main obvious difference's between the both are

front end;

bumper (grill built in to bumper

bonnet (as above)

wing's (headlights different shape)

headlight's (different shape to mb and "ek9'd" from factory)

rear end;

bumper

rear light's (indicator Lenz's orange not clear)

badge's different style of type face

3rd brake light is a bulb type, mounted at the bottom of the window

inside.

heated mirror's are on a separate switch, (a blank panel next to the mirror adjustment switch)

i'm sure there are more, but I can't remember them all, I really should of had a photo shoot of both my mb1 (ma civic chassis code mb1 as fitted with a 1.6 engine)

and the mc2 when I got it...

That covers it pretty well, I'll just add MC chassis code is for the aerodecks. :)

but also, I don't think they offered a 1.4 civic aerodeck for the uk market, as they most likely deemed it under powered.

but the realy rare beast's are the 2.0 td version's, only made in the hatch back version from what I remember, and the engine made it in to the deck but not in the uk.

right, the ma1 to 7 were non uk model's of the domain.

so the ma8/9 and mb1 should of been mb1/2/3.

the mb 2/3/4/5/6/7 should of been mc 1/2/3/4/5/6 (but have you noticed the extra model code to continue the continuity )

and the mb8/9 and mc 1/2/3/4, which should of been md 1/2/3/4/5/6

but what we have instead is this

ma8 preface lift 5 dr hatchback 1.4 petrol

ma9 preface lift 5 dr hatchback 1.5 petrol

mb1 preface lift 5 dr hatchback 1.6 petrol

mb2 postface lift 5dr hatchback 1.4 petrol

mb3 postface lift 5dr hatchback 1.5 petrol

mb4 postface lift 5dr hatchback 1.6 petrol

mb5 unknown

mb6 postface lift 5dr hatchback 1.8 petrol

mb7 postface lift 5dr hatchback 2.0 tdi

mb8 postface lift 5dr aerodeck 1.4 petrol

mb9 postface lift 5dr aerodeck 1.5 petrol

mc1 postface lift 5dr aerodeck 1.6 petrol

mc2 postface lift 5dr aerodeck 1.8 petrol

mc3 postface lift 5dr aerodeck 2.0 tdi

that leave's me with 2 thing's. and one is a question..

1 as the chassis number's falls, it mean's the best civic model, the 1.8 vti is equal to E..... and that mean's E= MC2....

2 what was the mb5, and was there going to be a mc4......?

and breath......
