kw94
I know there's already a million and one threads on here and on other forums about speaker sizes, but here's another for you.. From what I've read everywhere, the MB6 standard fronts are 6" and the rears are 4"? So how come the 4" speakers I've got are too small and don't fit the mounting holes? Do I need some sort of adapter?Cheers! 😤
Krzys
Someone got an MDF astra adapter one that works, but for the life of me I can't remember who! @Krzys any idea mate? Not sure about the rears but an adaptor would certainly help and if you use MDF it makes a good base for speakers too! @skymera, you got some for your fronts, any idea if the place you got your fronts also do rears? kw94
You probably know what I'm on about already but this is my problem http://flic.kr/p/pnjr97Everywhere I've looked says the standards are 4" but clearly not! Think I'll have to make an adapter at work.. Unless they're not actually 4" speakers?
jdmsaq
Right for your rears the actual size is 5.25" or 13cm. I am currently running these on the rear and they fit straight in with no additional modification required: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FLI-FI5-5-25-13cm-3-way-Car-Coaxial-Door-Shelf-Dash-Speakers-360W-Pair-/371143781476?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item5669e4ac64 Addionally, for the front i am also running fli speakers with Astra ring adaptors which allows me to run 16.5cm 3 way fli speakers. Hope this helps
kw94
@jdmsaq so not the 4" like everybody says they are haha! Think I've got some 5.25" kicking around somewhere so I'll stick those in this weekend. Is there a certain type of Astra adaptor I need or are they all the same? Well the 13cm went straight in for me so most likely they are 13cm. I think i used these ones on the front http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CT25VX01-VAUXHALL-ASTRA-1998-2004-165MM-FRONT-DOOR-SPEAKER-ADAPTOR-FITTING-KIT-/360613433647?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item53f63c512f
